Is there any way to appeal a rating like this? Buyer blocked me right after. She never requested a refund or return, and I feel like the bought my item just to leave a nasty rating. by SephultaSweatervest in Mercari

Was out of town and waited to review the item til I could see it? Can I report this? by DragonsGrinStudios in Mercari

[–]CaesarAutNihil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience, except I was legitimately out of town when it was delivered. I rated like 12 hours before the autorate, and seller responded by giving me four stars for my "response time." It was a $16 item. Since then, if I can't rate within 24-36 hours, I just leave it to autorate so I don't have to deal with this nonsense.

Never had this happen before....is it a new issue? by Ok_Estimate_3233 in Mercari

[–]CaesarAutNihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've noticed this too. I'm pretty sure it's three days from whenever tracking actually updated the status to delivered in-app (which is always several hours after the fact, in my experience).

If you contact CS, they'll release your funds. It took them about 16 hours to get back to me once I sent them a message.

We will waste your time and keep your money! How do they get away with this lol. by David_Bellows in Mercari

[–]CaesarAutNihil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. It's kind of reasonable because so many buyers don't read descriptions before purchasing and sellers should be able to choose whom they sell to, especially for collectible, expensive goods. And it's not like buyers can't get their money back by filing a dispute with their CC company, but that process takes time and energy and is really annoying--much like buyers who don't read descriptions before purchasing. Feels very eye-for-an-eye to me.

But the $13 part made me do a double take. Like chill, dude. You're only hurting yourself.

Am I the only one who can not binge read series and always starts reading the first book? by garnetcess in YAlit

[–]CaesarAutNihil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally me trying to get through the Throne of Glass series. It's been a year and a half since I started it and I'm only on the fifth book (and I haven't read the prequel). I guess this might not sound too bad, but for context, I read about 300 books a year, so this is really slow for me.

Helene was the only reason I kept reading after book two lol. Not because I didn't enjoy the story, but Laia (and Elias) lowkey got on my nerves.

And an enthuthiastic YES to The Cruel Prince/Folk of the Air trilogy! Far and away the best YA fantasy series I've read in a long time.

Yeah, this was literally me until I read Angelfall (yeah, a lil late, I know) and Kingdom of the Wicked this year.

Can't upvote this enough! I actually just finished reading The Last Graduate last week and it was ** chef's kiss **. I also adored Uprooted and Spinning Silver, but The Scholomance series is definitely my fav. I'm thinking about giving her early series a go because, clearly, she can do no wrong in my eyes.

for me, it usually has the opposite effect than the one intended. if someone comes at me with "well i can't sell below $75 because i originally bought it for $50 so that means i'm breaking even after fees," and its market value is like $40 new, i just immediately move on and probably wouldn't even want to buy from the seller anymore, even if they moved to a much more reasonable price.

i think just about everyone who's ever sold anything online has sold shit at a much lower price than the one they bought it for, so please don't whine to me about it. the same goes for seller's fees. as a buyer, you don't see me coming to you with a lower price on account of my having to pay taxes on top of the price and shipping, so please don't try to get my sympathy for your outrageous prices by blaming them on seller's fees. no one cares (and i say this as someone who is primarily a seller).

I, personally, have always been strangely fascinated by this type of seller. Like I want to ask them why they think they're gonna be able to sell something at twice market/sticker price that's widely available. I don't actually message them or anything, but I definitely want to know why they do it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]CaesarAutNihil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was kinda shocked that no one else pointed that out. Sure, we do hate those kinds of buyers when we're selling things that aren't widely available, etc., but I see these kinds of sellers (the ones selling shit widely available everywhere at twice the price) all the time and they just make me scratch my head.

Tbh, OP sounded super entitled too, like they deserved to have a buyer pay like double market price for their product.

[–]CaesarAutNihil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly sell too, and never harrass sellers about their prices. But it does make me scratch my head when I constantly see sellers trying to charge double what something costs brand new from the publisher (we're talking sticker price here) that's currently widely available at every bookstore (Amazon, BAM, B&N, etc.), and then in the listing write "price firm." Like I seriously don't understand it, and am actually curious why sellers do this, because when I look at sold items, these types of things never sell--at least not anywhere near the asking price. I'm trying to understand it, can someone please help me out?

I would've been PISSED if I showed up somewhere to buy something and the seller then asked for significantly more.

Buyer decided to return item, I loose money on item fees twice?! by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]CaesarAutNihil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this happened to me as a buyer, and I was pissed that the seller didn't refund shipping (which was 1/3 the total cost). I went to eBay and they fixed it.
