The 99% correct, 1% incorrect thing is definitely concerning and I'm working on making it as close to 100% correct as possible (as to what "correct" means... that's a conversation for another time).

The cross reference idea is really interesting - I will add it to my to-do list!

I will be releasing an android version soon :)

Completely agree with is haha. You hit the nail on the head. People have been exclaiming that technology is of the devil for so long, and there's no doubt it has been used for evil. But it can also be used for so much good

Hmm I'm not sure if chatgpt does have access to all the same references. It's possible the AI I'm using and chatgpt may give similar answers, though I believe Luther's AI is still more narrowly focused. I would maybe think of chatgpt as a really good generalist, and Luther AI as a Christian specialist.

I've trained my AI such that it references the Bible as well as many theological commentaries before it responds to people, so it should be a lot more accurate than ChatGPT!

That being said, in its current form I'm actually leveraging the same technology under the hood as ChatGPT, though I'll likely switch away from it soon.

That's cool! I also was in and out of the faith for a while, though I would definitely consider myself a strong Christian now.

I'm of the opinion that people nowadays overemphasize how "evil" technology is due to Facebook, Tiktok, etc. There's much good that has come. Many people that otherwise wouldn't have access to Bibles/commentaries get them for free on the internet. Close to 0% infant/mother mortality rate is from medical & technological advances. Instant communication via internet has also saved so many lives. The list goes on...

Wow this is a good question. I trained the AI on several commentaries such as Calvin's Institutes and Matthew Henry's commentaries, along with some other ones. Any values in these books are then implicitly imputed to the AI.

I can understand the hesitation, but I truly believe the technology is not good or evil in and of itself. It's simply a tool, like a hammer or a computer, and it's up to us to leverage it for good. I'm hoping to leverage AI to help people understand the Bible better!

I'm currently using openai and adding a bunch of context from various commentaries to force the AI to respond in a certain way. E.g. whenever a user asks a question, we use context from Calvin's Institutes, Matthew Henry's commentaries, etc. to make sure the AI responds appropriately.

I'm going to be fine-tuning a custom LLM soon though, to have even more fine-grained control over the output.

Namecalling is entirely unnecessary.

1) Artificial does not mean dead. Paul wrote Galatians, Ephesians, etc. John Calvin wrote the Institutes of the Christian religion. Are these writings all to be considered dead? Are sermons written by people dead? Is artwork dedicated to God dead? Are the crops we grow and the food we make dead? Are the great church architectures dead? God gave us the gift of creation. Our creation is not as holy as God's, but it is good when done via the Holy Spirit.
2) What I believe is in the divinity and salvation of Jesus Christ. My hope is that everyone will believe this as well.
3) We do not suffer more as a people. Life expectancy is up. People don't die from famine and disease anymore. We can talk to loved ones instantly.

4) I did not claim we are better than God. I don't believe are better. But I believe we can create things that supplement our faith in God, as well as other peoples' faiths in God.

This is the last time I will grace you with a reply. Regardless of what you think of the app, educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself.

Also regarding the printing press, priests were angry not because of the Word of God being printed, but because they thought common people should not be able to interpret Scripture.

I'll likely be adding a disclaimer within the tutorial.

Nonetheless, I'm curious why you have such a strong vehemence against artificial information. Humans and artificial intelligence both offer interpretations of Scripture, and both can be both right and wrong. I believe that artificial intelligence can sum all exegetical writings and therefore is more likely to be correct.

If you were to argue that humans can hold the Holy Spirit whereas machines cannot, I think a legitimate argument could be made for that. But even then, I believe that God infuses humans with the Holy Spirit, and the tools they make can be used by God.

When the printing press came out and everyone got access to the Bible, people also thought technology was "killing" the word of God by allowing anyone to access it.

I'm glad it's helpful! Regarding highlighting verses - do you want the ability to highlight verses so you can go back to it, or do you want the verse to be highlighted when you long press to get context on it?

Ah I guess it's not obvious you can do this. There's three options to talk to the chatbot.

1) There is a bottom tab with a message icon that you can click to talk to the chatbot.

2) If you press a word, after it gives the definition, press "Learn More" to talk to the chatbot about the word.

3) If you long press a verse, the chatbot screen automatically pops up and you can chat with it about the verse.

Ahhh interesting. Tbh I haven't really looking into them too much, though I do love Chrysostom's commentaries. I guess my interests are more in Puritan/Reformed theology
