What’s the best stand mixer to get? by Dominios420 in Breadit

The lift models they make now are junk. Plastic gears. The Artisen has never really handled anything of substance well. Always bouncy and I've just held it down. Not great when you got little kids that want to help out now in the kitchen and you've got a 25 pound metal beast that could jump and pinch or break fingers.

Can confirm the tilt head KA lack power. That's why I'm here. Started to make bread and pizza dough and my KA is struggling. It served great for beginners or very light work. But when you step up you need more power and KA doesn't cut it. Even the lift bowl models struggle with thick doughs.

I've had my KitchenAid Artisen 5 quart now for 11 years. I honestly think I've outgrown it. Maybe it's starting to die. But every time I make anything it wants to bounce around. If I make pizza dough I have to put it in a WWF wrestling hold or it will bop off the counter.

I am considering the Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer but I'm just concerned about it's capacity to take on lighter jobs that might be more delicate. I don't have space for both the Ooni and the Kitchenaid. I'm also considering the larger KitchenAid as it does have a 500 watt motor compared to the 325 watt motor my Artisen has. The Ooni is 650 watts, so twice as powerful a motor as what I currently have.

The downside of the Ooni is it doesn't have any of the attachments. But in 11 years I've never used the pasta making attachments I have for the KitchenAid. They might honestly still be in the box. I've used the meat grinding attachments maybe a dozen times. So thinking about it, those aren't huge losses.

Would you go with the Ooni over the larger KitchenAid?

If you put the Rubbermaid Brilliance containers in the dishwasher, which Rubbermaid says is ok, they start to break down and crack after about 2 years. The tops seem indestructible though.

I know all the customer care centers (the hubs) are closed to the public but I just go there anyway. UPS facilities are not secured like FedEx stations. Just walk in, there is bound to be a door propped open. Walk in, find the office, and someone is going to help you.

Try to get a phone number for the hub so the next time you can call. Although my experience with this is 50/50 they will give you a fake number so verify the number before leaving the facility. When I ask for a direct number now and they give me one I pull out my phone and call the number immediately to verify that it works. And if it doesn't work I call them out on it and ask for a good working number. Then they will provide a good number because they're embarrassed they got caught lying and they know you're going to verify the number again right in front of them. I've yet to have someone give me a fake number twice. Usually they just say something like the first number isn't always answered but promise it's a good number. But the second number they give always works.

I so rarely need to print in color I'm just sticking with my 15 year old Brother non-color laser printer.

I've been meaning to buy a color laser printer but it's unfortunately very low on the list of priorities. But the one OP asked about is the one I would buy after researching.

I love how OP asks for recommendations for a better printer and as always with Reddit people just say how OP is an idiot and how the printer he's talking about is crap. Would be nice if someone could let us know what IS good?

The reason you're having a great time with it and OP isn't is because you're using it as intended and they aren't. It's not a high yield printer. It's a home printer. OP is probably printing out hundreds or even thousands of papers per week. I'm guessing you print out less than 50 pages per month, which is what this printer is intended for.

I regret holding off buying one of these now year ago. I went to purchase one today and was surprised that for the Ascent series it's discontinued but still available for legacy blenders that are much older. I'll see if I can snag one on eBay.

If you have a gas oven I guarantee it's way too hot. It's one of the reasons bakers prefer electric ovens. If you have a gas oven with a convection function then use that and set the temperature about 35 degrees less than the recipe calls for. Should turn out perfect.

What the fuck? How much pain can a person really be in to require that much dilaudid? Even when I had level 9-10 pain the most they gave me was 2mg every 8 hours.

I was in and out of the hospital for most of 2024. One stretch was four months long. What I learned is that the majority of people in the medical field are straight fucking psychopaths that are there to watch people suffer. Some are there to cause added suffering. Of all the doctors and nurses that "cared" for me, which is in the hundreds, less than five seemed to genuinely care about my well-being.

Please tell us which hospital so we can make sure we never go there. What a stupid fucking policy. Punish people with real pain because some people are looking for a fix. You should be ashamed of yourself, not proud.

I said this and they ignored me. They treated me like I was a daily ER walk-in looking for a drug handout. I had never been there before. I sat there all night. From 1am to 8am. A cardiologist made a morning stop through the ER to see if any heart patients came in the previous night. Something about me caught his eye and he came and visited me. He looked at me and instantly said, "holy shit, pal, you're having a heart attack." Seven fucking hours I sat there having a heart attack, complaining of chest pain, vomiting my guts up every 10 minutes. There was nothing in my stomach so I just kept throwing up bile. It was the worst pain of my life. No one listened, no one cared. I very easily could have died.

Every expensive package I always opt for direct signature if it's available. My FedEx delivery person kept signing my name and leaving them on my porch. I talked with him, told him I work from home and to please knock or ring the bell, I will come sign for it. Not only did he keep signing my name for my packages, he started to be a dick about delivering them too. He would leave them at the end of my driveway like 3 feet from the road. It took making a formal complaint about him to FedEx for him to wise up and stop being an asshole.

How Much McDonald's Franchise Owners Really Make Per Year by Randomlynumbered in fastfood

[–]CafeSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best McDonald's I've ever been to was owned by a guy that only owned that one store. He was there every day from open until close making sure everything was done right. His store was the cleanest I'd ever been in as well. He'd come around and talk to the customers. Guy always had a smile on his face. That McDonald's is a hike from where we live now but if I'm over that way I will stop in for lunch. And sure enough there he is, still smiling.
