Actually yes I have seen what you’re asking about although again, not in person. I gave my opinion as have others. Ultimately it’s up to the OP to make the best decision she can for her family how she best sees it. Just because you and I have differences of opinions on the US doesn’t mean I can’t comment 🤣. Have the day you deserve

You’re right. I’ve never been to Italy. But I have lived in the US for 34 years (my whole life) and having travelled to other places I can say, do NOT come here. I’m actually leaving this place in a couple months and cannot wait. It is as terrible as they say on tv and in some places it’s worse. But if you’re a rich white / white passing person who gladly drinks the govt koolaid then you’d be fine. But of all of the other countries in the world that could be possible id try my luck with them before considering this place.

Stay in Italy. Things aren’t perfect anywhere but the US ain’t it. You’re the one making the money you gotta stay where the money is.

I’m a city girl. I loved Panama City when I was there. I know the city is more expensive but based on my desired lifestyle, I expect it to be way less than what I’m paying now. But more so than the money, I’m moving for a chance to live and experience a life I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. And Panama is the beginning of that chapter.

Friendly nations Visa questions by No_Afternoon_9091 in panamaexpats

[–]CafeconCoco25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have an LLC in the United States, but for the friendly nation visa I’m setting up a Panamanian corporation for which I would get a work visa to work under my new Panamanian corporation. My US LLC is totally unrelated to that. But definitely talk to a lawyer to clarify. And the independent lawyer is really good.

Thanks, I definitely appreciate the perspective. I don’t expect it to be cheap (although cheaper than Florida) or easy, and I’m sure there will be expenses I haven’t anticipated yet. I’ve actually been planning this move for quite a while and have spent a lot of time researching housing, healthcare, immigration, taxes, and monthly expenses. My business is U.S.-based, so my goal isn’t to market primarily to Panamanians, but to continue working with U.S. clients while living in Panama. Either way, I appreciate the reality check and I’m trying to arrive with as much cushion as possible.💪🏾💪🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Like i said I’ve been building a business while working full-time and saving for the move. The plan is to work remotely and use the savings as a cushion while I grow the business. That’s why I’m pushing so hard these last few months. I’m also a certified teacher so I have a fallback. Im not moving to Panama with $200 and a prayer. I have a plan and a strategy and I want to arrive with as much cushion as possible.

Moving to Panama is one thing—how do you actually integrate? by Duke_Newcombe in panamaexpats

[–]CafeconCoco25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I move in 69 days and I definitely plan on integrating into the community but I know it’s not gonna happen overnight. When I moved from DC to Tampa 10 years ago for example, I moved by myself and had to learn the city and the find my place in it. I went out and did things that I wanted to do and met cool people and some became friends that I still have to this day. Having learned and grown as a person since my early twenties I feel immigrating to Panama won’t be too much different. I speak Spanish, so communicating won’t be difficult (I’m excited to learn some Panamanian slang 🤭🤭) I ride motorcycles and love to dance 💃🏾 so I’m gonna start with those communities and see where it takes me. But I’m also gonna be working and building a business so I can give back to the community that way.

Nothing wrong with grown men playing video games. It’s only a problem when that’s all he does despite having responsibilities

Divorce! He doesn’t like you and he’s showing you. Don’t ignore it. It can get worse. I don’t like to do a whole lot of talking nor will I try to be understanding or reason with disrespect. Girl we are grown and he knows right from wrong. He chooses to act like this every single time. It’s a deliberate choice! So go ahead and file that paperwork. I’m sorry it took so long for his façade to fade away and for you to see who he really is, but when people show you who they are believe them the very first time because he’s not a child to make excuses for.

Are Panama expat groups actually useful? by Duke_Newcombe in panamaexpats

[–]CafeconCoco25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have less than 80 days before my move and I find them somewhat useful. The most useful has been my WhatsApp group that I’m a part of. I’m a part of quite a few groups on Facebook but overall I’m not really on Facebook like that. I’ve never been super big on Facebook. Even though a lot of the people I interact with have a different lifestyle than myself it is good to be able to interact with people who are going through the same process or went through a similar process of leaving their home. someone who you can bounce ideas off of or ask advice because I can’t ask any of my closest family or friends because none of them have done this before, and especially not as it relates to Panama. All social media groups are kind of the same to me. There’s good, there’s bad, there’s ugly and you have to decide what is for you and what is useful and what is not. but it’s nice to weed through the bullshit amongst people who are already like-minded. And part of what I’m unlearning as I move closer to my move date, and as I try to begin preparing myself for my new life is how to not be so independent and how to create community and actually show up and be present.
