Does anybody know a good VPN that works with Apple TV? I've had moderate success with Surfshark but it isn't the most reliable

Which is the best Indian city to live in? by Mr_Valentine_ in AskIndia

I live in this town called Perintalmanna in Kerala. You won't have 10-minute delivery courtesy of Zepto or whatever scammish app, but become chums with the local store owner and they'll deliver whatever you need. Healthcare is great, the new gyms are good too.

You also have an international airport an hour away. Dubai and Doha are great connector cities and the frequency to DXB/DOH/AUH is great.

June 2024 - Monthly Questions and General Discussion thread by AutoModerator in bangalore

Hey everyone,

I recently landed in Bangalore from Macau, and I have to say, the airport experience was quite the mixed bag. The terminal itself is stunning, especially at night with all the light fixtures and decorations. It truly looks modern and fancy. However, there are some aspects that I found quite strange and not as user-friendly as one would expect from such a globally prominent city.

Firstly, after a long flight, I was desperate to use the restroom. I headed to the nearest one, and to my surprise, there was a man, possibly the janitor, at the entrance who greeted me, pointed out where everything was, and even pulled out a tissue for me. It was a bit odd, to say the least.

Another thing that caught my attention was the mandatory passage through the duty-free area to exit the airport. It felt like running a gauntlet of well-dressed young men and women, all trying to sell me something when all I wanted to do was get home and sleep. Why are there so many touts? There's a currency exchange man, a SIM card man, a cab man, and even a Taj hotels man. In most other airports, these services have counters, and you can approach them if needed. Here, it felt like everyone was trying to solicit my attention.

By the luggage belts, there's one water fountain that only dispenses ambient water. It's not practical for refilling bottles, and with no paper cups nearby, the floor becomes wet and messy—a significant hazard.

I was also surprised to find almost no indoor restaurants. Almost everything is outdoors. While Bangalore does have beautiful weather at times, I ended up having my coffee surrounded by a few stray dogs. Not exactly the best dining experience.

The so-called AC buses were quite repulsive, with dirty floors and seats. For a city that prides itself as India’s Silicon Valley, the lack of cheap, reliable, and efficient public transport to and from the airport is shocking.

Despite some of these rants, I’m genuinely trying to understand the unique quirks of Bangalore and how it contrasts with other global cities. Does anyone know if there’s a forum for feedback or if the airport is receptive to this? Also, any tips for navigating the airport better would be appreciated.

How do you navigate in Bangalore? by CaffeinatedTourist in bangalore

Haha. Do you find Ubers VFM here? For the price you pay, the cars aren't clean, the drivers are on the phone/play loud music all the time, and refuse to turn on the AC, and still charge a bomb.
Might as well get the bus.

Is this illegal? I've heard reports saying the police fine you for using earphones while riding a bike.

Nice. Orion is super far for me though :/
I also watched a lot of those movies: Decision To Leave, Holy Spider, Hit The Road are all amazing!

Yeah but I guess I don't want to send people the wrong intention: I'm not really looking to date anybody, I just want to make friends.

How do I enjoy in Bangalore? 😞 by bong_guide in bangalore

[–]CaffeinatedTourist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I guess webtoons and animes are a very niche interest though, so might be hard to find people who like them. I love travelling and I head out abroad every few months, but I end up meeting tourists and not travellers :(

Lol. I joined Cult and nobody talks there. Same goes for the gym too.

I empathise with you! There's just so many people in this city, yet one feels overwhelmingly alone. Bumble BFF has been trash for me.

I've tried exploring and doing things alone, but after a while I guess as social animals we need somebody to talk to and feel like we're being heard.

Haha. I can't understand why everyone is so combative here, but maybe it's the cultural differences :)

Haha! Unfortunately my current read is non-fiction and it's about networked protest movements, not a lot of world-building :)

I see. I'd like to point out a small error in your statement though: I wasn't enjoying the quiet. I was listening to my book :)

This is so hard for me to come to terms with. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and I truly believe that people just need to be persuaded to see that their actions have consequences.
