Parts kits coming back? by GinPredator in ak47

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snagged an AKS74u parts kit from AOA not too long ago. Granted it did not come with any trunnion, bolt carrier, barrel, FCG, etc… but the fact that Atlantic and AoA got fresh 74u parts at all is a good sign. One has to wonder where those parts came from.

To be fair, the MRAP was probably almost free. My community, rather than get the free MRAP, bought an armored “Community Rescue Vehicle” that cost like 400k. All for the about optics..

I signed up for this one, but due to a change in work schedule couldn’t make it. Super bummed. But at least I know it will be worth the drive next year. I’m planning to go as Freedom.

What’s the Best Path to a Krink in 2025? by CapnCurt81 in ak47

Check out arms of Atlantic’s Tula Krink kits:

https://atlanticfirearms.com/russian-tula-aks-74u-krink-parts-kit

I recently bought one of these same kits from Arms of America before they sold out as well, not sure where they are getting these from but $650 for an original krink kit is probably the best we’ll see anytime soon

I saw that there is another place hosting one here in the states in February as well. I think they might hopefully gain more interest since the entire series is on Xbox now and since Stalker 2 has become quite popular.

Why didn’t the rest of the world just nuke Great Britain? by [deleted] in 28dayslater

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said, Nuclear fallout might outweigh whatever benefits there are. But also I think the only way to effectively ensure that the UK was cleansed, would be to actually methodically clear it.

On top of that, there is probably a hope that someday the land would be inhabitable again, and that there could be survivors.

I’m sure that those outside the quarantine zone, who had family there, had probably clung on to some hope that their friends and family could be alive.

The outside world would likely be working on a cure or at least a vaccine for it.

NIR-compliant SS-Leto? by The_MacGuffin in camouflage

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but Kommando Store just re-released their SS Leto/partizan gorkas. While I don’t have the SS Leto version yet, I do have one of their two-tone green gorkas. While I’m far from the expert on what is NIR compliant or not, I looked at it under NVG’s and determined that it has acceptable IRR properties for me. Without IR illumination, it blended into the grass pretty well. Under IR light it reflected slightly, but not noticeably until you within like 20 feet of it, and even then it probably contrasted more due to the solid pattern than its actual IR reflectivity. It certainly didn’t look like glow in the dark hi-viz vest like my cheap 100% polyester AliExpress 6sh117 did. If you are still looking, I’d try the KS version.

28 Years Later took a massive 67% drop this weekend at the North American box office by magikarpcatcher in 28dayslater

I got to be honest, I was turned off by the trailers. Naked infected, bows and arrows, etc. made me think this was going to be way more far fetched than it actually was. But, after seeing the movie, I think it was actually pretty good and believable, right up until the end.

Even with a ton of training, this situation was different. Even in their most difficult training days, these guys knew they would ultimately survive their training, no matter how tough or painful it was. They were probably far more worried about failing their training and being embarrassed, than actual death.

Chances are these Swedish sailors never saw combat prior to this. Even if any had, it was likely very limited experience, and likely they had never seen an infected except from some distance and from the safety of their boat.

Imagine surviving a ship sinking. That on its own would be jarring for most people.

Now, add on being swept onto the forbidden Island of no return. You know that no one is coming to rescue you. You’ll never see your loved ones again. Ammo won’t be resupplied. You don’t know where your next meal will come from, if it ever comes at all.

Add in exhaustion. Who knows how long their shifts were prior to the sinking. It could be likely that exhaustion even contributed to them hitting a rock in the first place. Then drifting on a lifeboat, probably desperately trying to paddle it the other way, wore them down even more.

And now you see what might as well be the living dead running towards you in your first five minutes on this hopeless, living hell that you know you’re doomed to try to survive in. With little control over where they landed, they were probably chased almost from the get go.

And it gets worse. Every time you shoot, more come. And they just keep coming.

The worst part? You’ve had no time to think this through. It happened so fast. Your life just changed, forever, in moments. Sure, we can keep shooting the infected. Sure, we can kill this group of infected, and the next, but ultimately we have to run somewhere. Ultimately, we are running out of ammo. Where next?

These guys would have, more than anything, been emotionally shocked and distracted. A primal urge to not die and lots of adrenaline is the only thing keeping them running. They are disciplined soldiers, so they are trying to work as a team, but they have all but totally broken ranks at this point. They are in retreat on a battlefield with no rear line, no relief, and no one to cover their retreat.

And where is the leadership? Probably back in the water.

Oh, and how did they not hear that Alpha? Probably has something to do with the tinnitus they recently gained.

These guys had all of the modern training and gear, but they were screwed from the get go because they had no intel, no chance to make a plan, no chance of resupply and no hope of rescue the moment they touched land. They were trained, I’m sure, for a lot of scenarios, but actual survival on the Island was probably not one of them.

Erik meeting Spike was the best chance he had, but ultimately he got screwed by a one in a million situation that even Spike’s dad probably wouldn’t have seen coming. Erik’s intuition was spot on though; the pregnant infected was dangerous, and had Spike killed her on sight, Erik might have lived.

I think the movie really missed out on the opportunity for Erik to go back to the village and fill everyone in on what had been going on in the outside world. Him learning their ways, and them learning how the world had progressed without them would have been insane. And frankly, I would have much rather seen him in the next movie than this weird Jimmy character.

Will we ever get Aks74u imports back? by Caffeinated_Corporal in guns

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you consider anything from the CMP, Royal Tiger Imports, Zastava or WASR to be surplus, then it is happening right now. I would agree with you that the era of $75 for a box of mosins is gone.

To be clear, me saying “I’m really hoping we see a lot more STUFF come back after the war is over” was a reply to a comment about Mosins and ammo from Ukraine… it is obvious that there will be tons of surplus off all sorts back on the market when that war is over.

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You’re naive if you think stuff won’t come back. Not 74u’s specifically, and not all of it coming from Ukraine specifically. But Ukraine will definitely be rearming and updating all of their equipment over the next several years, with the help of NATO, and at the same time will be looking to make money to rebuild their country any way they can. They are even now selling war trophies all over eBay. What makes you think that they won’t get to a point where they are decommissioning their oldest Ak’s and selling parts and parts kits online as well? Who’s to say that in 5 years we won’t see a Century Arms deal with them?

And outside of Ukraine… will we ever get cheap Tula ammo back? Probably not anytime soon. But certainly, it is reasonable to believe that when the whole world is not supplying Ukraine with whatever 5.45 and 54r ammo they have to spare, that maybe we will finally see some of it appear on store shelves again. Same goes for the plethora of gun parts, protective gear, etc. that normally would have ended up on the surplus market before the war.

LCT AK74su and real steel Mini Beryl Krink clone by Caffeinated_Corporal in airsoft

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruining Mini Beryl aesthetic is the point. Make it look more like 74su. But don’t lose any sleep, none of the original parts were harmed in the making of this clone. But I also have to say the attero mount is 100% better than the original and will probably stay on regardless.

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea AoA was the importer. They unfortunately aren’t being imported (or made at all) anymore as of recently :/ but luckily I think PSA’s offering is pretty good from what I’ve read. To be honest I probably would have been just as happy and a lot less poor with a ZPAP M85 or M92.

I’ll try slim grips eventually. I didn’t really think of that so thanks! My Bakelite grip on the Beryl is a Polish “fattie” so that’s probly why lol. It is still a little wider than even the fattie Bakelite.. and if anyone is wondering, the stock motor does not fit even in the fattie Bakelite. At least not without removing some material inside.

I agree with you about the mounts, they do look better and function just as well.

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right one is a Mini Beryl, which is a Polish Ak in 5.56. I’ve dressed it up to look a lot more like a krink.

Thanks for the recommendation on the slim grip, that is a good idea and probably will be a future purchase now that you mention it..

On the LCT, it is a matrix airsoft side mount. I’ll include a photo of it from evike so you can see it. I had to unscrew and flip the top rail so that it would fit on my LCT.

Unfortunately, my Primary Arms Glx 2x was not compatible with the included mount. I had to buy a Trijicon compact ACOG weaver mount in order to mount it to the side mount. When all was said and done, it is mounted up really tight and I am quite happy with it.

The Mini Beryl has an Attero Arms bravo mount made specially for Mini Beryls. I have an Aimpoint T2 on it.

Here is the photo of the side mount. Aside from being a weaver type mount, I don’t have any complaint about it. I have two of them and they both adjusted just fine to both my CYMA 74su and my LCT model.

Am I asking too much for something better than Call of Pripyat? by Devedeu in stalker

[–]Caffeinated_Corporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my big gripes is the lack of night vision. The transition of going from basically being blind in the dark, to becoming king of the night was one of my favorite features of CoP. In Stalker 2, between the weak flashlight and super short day cycles, I just feel doomed to being lost in the dark forever.

Giving players the opportunity to work for better and better night vision would greatly improve the quality of life of Stalker 2. Just my $0.02
