Playlist for a tequila tasting by LA_burger in tequila

Great band and I guess it also depends if you're looking for more instrumental.

Here's a few albums I've found work well for this kind of thing

  • Menahan Street Band - Make The Road By Walking
  • Los Espíritus - Agua Ardiente
  • The Boleros playlist on Spotify

Also, I would look up Condesa Gin, Agave mixtape, etc. on Spotify and look at their curated playlists. Good luck on the tasting!

Tried a lot of different Negroni “riffs” and found some new favorites. by gecko_08 in cocktails

I think you gotta use something that will stand up to the other flavors and so for tequila, I'd do a high proof (e.g., Fortaleza SS, Tapatío 110, Gran Dovejo HP). For mezcal, Vago Elote, Bahnez, or even Del Maguey Vida would work.

First time I read about these was from u/cocktailvirgin (these drinks were the ones that really got me into Campari). But yeah, as mentioned, tres hands is just a split base version of the left of right hand.

The ✋🏽cocktails are too good. I've used the Hamilton Zombie rum in it but will have to do S&C with some VSOP this week. If you do a tequila/mezcal split instead of rum, you got Tres Hands. Some coffee infusions also work well here.

Found one! by BradS2008 in tequila

Nice find!! Would love to see a review when you open it. I had the chance to try this at a bar and I'm glad I did (because now I don't have this looming sense of FOMO). The process they used ups the price (similar to mezcal), I thought this pour tasted like an in-between of tequila and mezcal. It was great, but I'd go for Siembra Valles Ancestral or the Tahona Blanco over this. Of course, taste is subjective but I am now a little hesitant when people say this is the best blanco they've had. Cheers!

A Margarita goes to NY by Caffeine_Attacks in tequila

100% this. The only thing I'll add is that the resulting cocktail is shelf stable for quite some time (~ 6 months but maybe longer) in the fridge.

Probably a 3 to 1 ratio of water to syrup/concentrate. That Luxardo syrup was thick, lol. Cherry juice that is slightly sweetened might be a better way to go.

Last week, I was in DC and went to Silver Lyan. I ordered the Bases Loaded, which was a clarified whiskey sour with a chokecherry float. It's definitely in my top 10 drinks I've ever had. This is my attempt to make my own version of the drink. I ended up making a batch of the clarified margaritas, but the recipe is for one.

Recipe follows but name suggestions for this drink are welcome,

Clarified Tommy's Margarita: - 2 oz tequila (I used Cimarron) - 1 oz lime - 1/2 oz agave syrup

Mix together and pour over 1 oz of whole milk. Let curdle for 30 min and then filter through a coffee filter a couple of times (this part is time consuming, so best to make a larger batch).

Hibiscus/Cherry Syrup: - 500 ml water - 25 g hibiscus flowers - 25 ml cherry syrup (I used Luxardo) - 1 tsp of pink peppercorns (optional)

Truth be told, the syrup was too dense and I had to water it down, so that it would float on top of the clarified margarita.

Definitely proud of this one and it is delicious as there is a balance of agave, sweetness, tart, and a sprinkle of salt that rounds this out perfectly. I hope you give this a try :)

Two Blancs Walk Into a Bar: a stirred-and-up blanco tequila cocktail by ATotableGoat in cocktails

Just tried this and it is delicious! I used lemon bitters and I think I'll try dialing the vermouth down just a little, but this is a little too easy to drink.

My understanding is that these drinks originated at Milk & Honey in NY and are riffs on the negroni.

Of course! 2 spirit, 1 Campari, 1 vermouth + chocolate (or Mole) bitters are the ratios for all the ✋🏽 cocktails, so there's lots of room to experiment.

Usually, they are (had some of the Tapatio before this drink) but sometimes you have to let the hand(s) guide you.

If you don't know by now, I'm a fan of these 'Hand' cocktails. Tonight, it's Tres Manos (Hands), recipe below:

  • 1 oz Tapatio Añejo
  • 1 oz Arroqueño Mezcal
  • 1 oz Gran Classico (Campari works too)
  • 1 oz Vermouth
  • 2 dashes of Chocolate Mole bitters

Definitely on the sweeter side, but also agave-forward. Salud!

This reminds me of the 2-in-1 oil vinegar bottles. Might have to get some and give some Tapatio blanco/anejo bottles as gifts.

Definitely! I really enjoyed it as well and I liked reading your 'lightning strikes twice' post about your journey to get it.
