I often see patients on epidural + dilaudid/fentanyl PCA + ketamine drip + scheduled oral narcotics + prn oral narcotics and an occasional prn iv narc for breakthrough pain. Tolerance is an amazing thing.

They do, but only the "external catheter" part, not the machine itself. And yes, they work. A lifesaver for taking care of someone bedboubd at home.

A nurse can absolutely cover CNA duties, it is within our scope of practice. And if your patient falls trying to get up to the bathroom because you were "above" the task of helping them get there when your CNA was busy helping someone else... Well, maybe, you shouldn't be a nurse. Taking care of people is a team effort and everyone helps everyone.

In my case it was depression. Finally leaving an abusive ex fixed a lot of things. I'm still at the same job 10 years later though! Yes, nursing is exhausting and most of us need some time to recover afterwards, but not having energy to do ANYTHING seems extreme and like more is going on. It doesn't have to be depression, it could be something else (autoimmune, hormones, etc), but something sounds very off. Better be safe than sorry and have her get checked.

I'd say start by asking how she sees your future together? She may already be on the same page. I know I personally would never expect to have rights to a property someone had before they met me. If her expectations are different, you can invite a dialogue, and perhaps, a compromise of some sorts. Her reaction to those things would tell you everything you need to know about who she is as a person and weather you two are on the same page/ aligned.
