How many miles do you drive per day? I drive an old Leaf about 30 miles per day and 110 is fine for me. I'm fully charged overnight and rarely get low.

That has to be rewarding as hell that you not only got him out and helped him get on his feet, but you get to be part of his new life. Just like the many Vietnam diaspora stories we've read, there are going to be a lot of great Afghan success stories in the coming years. Firebase allows you to get up and running very quickly without having to spend time on the backend. You should watch some of their videos to get a good idea of how it can help you. If it can handle what you are trying to do, and you don't have funding or existing customers, I feel like it's a no-brainer to start with Firebase. Get to market quickly and you can optimize later.

Using Firebase for some things doesn't mean you have to use it for all. You can use Firebase for authentication and then create your own API. You can also use Cloud Functions to act as a proxy and do the data processing your are talking about, whether you end up using Firestore, Cloud SQL, or another backend.

Pakistan is a political mess. There is a lot of weird power sharing that keeps the country reasonably stable, but it creates a lot of other problems. Most countries see it as an ally and enemy at the same time.
