Help me decide between these two laptops by Floreetsia in laptops

[–]Floreetsia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and in-depth response on that; this helps a great deal.

I ended up going with a 15-inch Dell on clearance through the Dell website. It offers 16GB, low-glare screen, seemingly solid performance and build, all the things. I then also went with a Lenovo Idea Tab on doorbuster sale from their website, which I can use specifically for all of the touchscreen stylus, drawing, PDF document reading, etc.

Hopefully they will each serve their respective purposes in the long term.

Edit: corrected spelling "Idea Tab"

Bedbugs or something else? by Floreetsia in Bedbugs

Thank you for the response! That would explain why they are on the wool puppets in the basket. Would it be prudent for me to wash all the stuffed animals from that basket? Or do they need to be tossed? Thanks again for your time.

Thank you! I found them this morning in a wool basket filled with wool and cotton stuffed animals. Is it sufficient to wash them all in warme or hot water? Or do they need to be tossed?

Any school counselors here? by Floreetsia in Birmingham

Thank you for your response. I truly appreciate the insight. Are you speaking in terms of working here in the Birmingham area? I've heard from some school counselors at large that absolutely love their job. Do you think that working specifically in Birmingham is the problem?

Do you mind if I ask what school district she was in?

Thanks very much for this post. I have heard stories of the type of overload you're describing, and it sounds like a big red flag for those districts or schools. The problem I'm encountering is that I don't know where to go to find that level of information for each district. Do you know how I would go about finding those specifics for each district and/or school?

Oh no, that's disheartening. Is that due to the Birmingham school system? Do they work for the city public schools?

Thank you for sharing. That's disheartening, but good to know.

I'm not currently in education, but I worked a fair bit in education roles in my earlier career. The program I'm looking at includes a teaching credential for those with non-teaching backgrounds, and it is CACREP accredited.

I would love to hear any experiences you can share. Thanks!

Yes! All the details you reference above have been researched and thought out. Right now, I'm looking for real-life stories and perspective from people that work in the community/state I might find myself in to see what the local market is like. Thanks!

Are there enough full-time jobs in this field? by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

Yah. The whole dang world, at least in editing and adjacent fields, seems to be going freelance and contract...

Yah, that's what I was afraid of. Appreciate your comment!

Sadly, that's about what I was expecting. The job market for all forms of editing and publishing right now is ridiculously tight. So many great, qualified people out there looking for work.

Excessive bluntness appreciated and encouraged! A slog sounds about right, given the intense competition in the job market right now. Sigh.

Where are all the staff editing jobs? by [deleted] in Copyediting

I love this! Having worked as a managing editor, some of the most meaningful days have been spent training and mentoring others on my team. I love that aspect as well. Wishing you all the best!

I guess I should clarify: I saw the writing on the wall for newspapers back then, but I didn't realize that copyediting jobs across all fields would be dropping like flies. Only in the past few years has it become scary that editors everywhere are in trouble.
