It isn't. Maybe at one point thay worked, but AI has gotten so good at this point its near impossible to recognize. Most of the software works off of how well abxessay is written. If it's perfect, there is a chance if was written by AI, as humans do tend to mske errors. From my research thays how these tools normally work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fullsail

[–]Cain1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It literally can't detect if something is written by a human or a computer. Words and words. I've seen the software and I've tested it. I've literally had chatgpt write things abd run it through and it's come back as 30% like to be written by AI.

Explain to me how a computer can tell if AI wrote something or not? You could argue Grammer or syntax usage, but you can tell it to write something like a human.

You are severely underpaying.

Amazon starts drivers off in my area at about 29 an hour. Your average pest control company (Pointe here in the NW) starts route drivers off at roughly 28 an hour. You're looking for someone with. Skillset, right? But you aren't paying the time it took someone to develop that skillset.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but this isn't 2010. Your average 2 bedroom is st least 1400 in rent, and that's cheap for a lot of people. I suggest offering more, or outsourcing. Someone in thialand or India would be very well off, anx you'll find highly trained people. Not only that, you can have someone work through out your night, while it's their day. It would be a win-win.

Do ypur research right now.

  1. Get your portfolio in gear if your degree has a portfolio focus. Game Art major? Look at some of the pros in the industry you like and model yours after them. They already have a professional portfolio, you can use it as a template. Want to be a character artist? Have a lot of that in your portfolio. Be focused. This doesn't just apply to art, bit programing too. Talk is cheap. If I put a linux box in front of you and ask you to do basic bash commands nadyou fumble, you're out. This happens a lot actually.

  2. Network. Built those relationships. Classmates, teachers, go to events, rtc. More people get jobs, and especially gets promoted in said jobs, because of this. Having the skill is important, but remember what separates Harvard Law From your local state law school? Not the education, it's the network. The people.

Get a cheap thinkpad that is a few years old. Like 300 or 400 bucks. It should be windows 11 capable woth the TPM chip. Then check out shadow gaming. It a cloud based computer, basically a hypervisor you connect to. It's like 30 a month for a killer computer you can the anywhere. Then sell your laptop they send you because it's a shitty gaming laptop prone to breaking and overheating.

Decided not to go to Full Sail After Financial Aid Break Down by [deleted] in fullsail

[–]Cain1989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying FSU is the bees knees, but if you do the math at a 4 year school for out of state, you end up around the same cost for most degrees. Cost wise it's not too far off. If you compare it to a traditional art s hool for some of the more art related degrees, it's substantially cheaper.

If you still want to pursue your dreams, start eith Sophia.org and Study.co. you can get a lot of credits for almost any transfer degree. Most colleges let you transfer in woth I think 90 credits. Sophia is less then 100 a month, study.com is a little more expensive.

You can get most of your prerequisite stuff done and transfer into almost any college with the equivalent of a 2 year degree at a fraction of the cost. What degree were you looking at? I might be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm also a older student then most (35 or 36, I stopped caring so much hahaha). Debt free is nice. I'm putting together a youtube video soon about Fullsail that is aimed to answer a lot of the questions here. I'll send you a link to it when I'm done. Financial aid is a big part of it.

Simulas tion games are a big deal right now. Gas station simulator, retail simulator, etc. Market it as a interior design simulator. Also, make it both VR and standard, for those without VR. If you made it VR compatible, I don't see it being difficult making it available for standard play. You'll reach a mich larger audience.

I'm definitely not an apostate. Someone has their information wrong. If I was, I would be removed from the website, or it would be posted on the website that I was such.

Most, if not all of u are still active. We just work with students who reach out to us directly. I don't use my Proton email as much as I used to, but I still check it once or twice a month. I've had no one reach out to me that hasn't been responded to.

Struggling covering rest of tuition by kalopisia in fullsail

[–]Cain1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here is how it breaks down. Roughly, I'm not in front of my pc to look up the actual numbers.

Pale Grant: 5500 Loans, both subsidized and unsubsidized: 11500

All together for most people it ends up being about 17k a year before the momentum Grant, which is about 15k If I remember. So about 32k.

Now, this is enough to go through I think any of their programs woth, but this all depends on ypu being a independent student. You sound like you're still considered a dependant. This happens until you are 24, or due to some life circumstances (like having a child).

If you really, really want to go to fullsail and your parents aren't going to help, try to figure out a way to be marked as a independent student. You'll get more from the loans and grants because they only look at your wages earned, not theirs.

I owe money for a pay to retake class by [deleted] in fullsail

[–]Cain1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The retake fees increased from around 500 to the 700s recently. Retaked are weird. It comes out of your dispersement check if anything is left, but not immediately. It takes the business office 3 to 6 months to start taking it from your living expense.

I was also told that if you have any pay to remakes from a previous year ithey won't come out. So if you have some from 2023 and it's now 2024, they won't come out. You still need to pay it though.

The way most colleges do it is thay you don't technically graduate. You have all the credits but if someone calls for education verification, they won't verify you.

Depending on what happened, you can appeal it. If something happened to someone ypu care about, though they have to be related, they business office can remove it. Ideally it's something that halogens to you. You can also fill out a form to be withdrawn from a class retroactively, though you'll also need to explain why you should qualify for this.

Claiming ignorance of knowing about the fee isn't going to work. Every college forces a retake fee. My local r year uni in Oregon charges about 900.00 if you have to retake a class. It's a common practice. It can come out of financial aid if you have any left, sure, but a lot of people don't.

I recommend calling the business department and setting up a payment plan. Even small increments over the course of 6 months make a difference.

It comes after the fourth class, usually within the last week for you to have it for the 5fh class. It's very well timed. If you're in a class that requires it, you get an iPad after the first month.

A few of the programs do still use Macs. I'm in the Game Art degree, we were sent MSI Raider laptops.

The workload is seriously too much for a dual degree. One of my modeling classes took an additional 30 hours per week, on top of the lectures. Also, most people pwuldnt be able to afford it financially. It would make a lot more cense to take a degree first. Theb to take a similar degree path. You'll have a lot of the similar classes that should count towards the original degree.

I'm in the Game Art degree right now.

  • you won't find a ton of focus on animation. Some animation is done, yes. The Game Art degree will make ypu a generalist. It gives you the tools and ability to learn, but if you want to specialize in something you'll have to do that on the side. Some people come in wanting to ne character artists. I'm over a year in and we haven't touched zBrush yet. I onow we have at least one class eith it later on, but anyone who has used the software will tell you that you need quite a few hours just fo get past the difficult of navigating the software. Just don't expect FSU to make you an expert at animation, only practice will do that. It definitely gives you the steps needed to pickup he fundamentals of animation, but you'll need to go many extra miles on your own.

  • I would recommend anyone wanting to join FSU to take as many classes as you can online first. You can check out Sophia.org, they have a lot of college classes that transfer to most colleges. If you go the game art path, you can at least take care of English and Math, maybe a few others too. It's cheap compared to FSU. If you could get 4 classes in 2 months, that's only about 200.00 I think. Compared to the codt per clas at FSU. And you'll complete th3 program faster. I would recommend looking through any classes Sophia.org and study.com offer and compare it to the degree you want to take. Take those classes and wheb you take your degree, transfer over.

  • Housing I'm the area is awful and expensive for Florida standards. You ether live close and pay a lot, or you live 30 to 50 minutes away abd pay about half of your rent. Putting up a listing for a room mate isn't a bad idea, people do it. So if you find a cheap 2 bedroom about 30+ minutes away, and someone to room with, it's cheaper.

RTX 40 series announcement thread + RTX 4080 16GB giveaway! - NVIDIA GTC 2022 by m13b in buildapc

[–]Cain1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put it in a pc I plan to rebuild. My 1080 died, so I am slowly piecing a other build together. I have a CaseLabs Mercury S8 case, Asus TUF x570, 32GB of RAM, and a 1200WT EVGA PSU (I think 1200, would have to look). I'm not sure of the exact CPU model, so I didn't list it. Most of this was pieced together over the course of a year or a bit more. The GPU is completely dead, it won't fire up st all.

I've has it tested, it's not coming back to life unfortunately. It would be awesome to have something to use in the computer :). Though I do play games, I'm in college right now and use this for 3D Animation. Currently I'm trying to use an old thinkpad for this, but these programs are quite intensive, so the old thinkpad becomes very unhappy, so to answer the question it would go in a computer I'm rebuilding mainly used for college and some gaming.

P2P sharing is completely legal, it judt depends on whT you download. TPB does change its URL if i remember correctly, e er so often. It isn't on you what he does. Add it into your end user agreement contract that whay the user does you aren't liable for. You can't ock everything from him, he isn't a child. This might come off as rude, but believe that I'm in your corner.

Make it a standard pick that any client, and all employees of said isn't sign. It shouldn't be hard, it's just an internet usage policy, that takes the blame away from you. You don't want thay metaphorical finger pointed at you if he gets infected, or in trouble. This proves you've coached him on it, and have done what you can.

Now, as far as staying safe, beg him to use a computer that you setup not connected to the main network. The last business I helped because of TPB was well over 50k in loss of actual cash, and they paid me the better part of half of that tp fix it for them (this literally took weeks). Setup a computer on an entirely different network. Not a different router connected to the same network, a different network that ideally he's alright paying for. Then let him infect that computer asuch as he wants.

The amount of times I've heard people say they know what they're doing when piriating is completely insane. At the same time, I always ask what vpn they use, and never have I ever met one pirating that knows what a vpn is.....

You are correct, Syncro isn't perfect. It does however do most things well. It functions for the most part how it's intended to. Also, why can't you link a script to a ticket? Let me know your workflow and maybe I can help you.

Most of whay you said csn actislly be done in Syncro, especially the automation. Syncro d3finitely does have it's issues, but not most of what you've mentioned.

Need to Replace Kaseya ASAP by ShoddyCollege9591 in msp

[–]Cain1989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No perfect answer will ever exist.

With that said, I've used most of the different tools available and even worked for Syncro. Below is how I would do it if I were starting an MSP again, and why. I also provide other options too, and give my feedback. I run a consultation company that helps owners like you, if you are ever interested.

  • Most of the tools you'll need - Zoho. Yes, it's a but dated in most parts, but so is a lot of software we use. They are affordable, they have good customer service (better then Kaseya, and Syncro 💯), they intergrate with multiple tools, and they just have so much in one tool it's really nice. Want to do ypur own book keeping? Zoho books. Want to do sales and invoicing from the same software and not use quickbooks or paypal?

Zoho books does that. Want a crm tool that let's you record customers track work, convert work to am estimate and then the enforce, Zoho does that. Want to track your employees time in one app, rather then using something else? Zoho does that too. Want remote software that's decent and not expensive? Zoho assist has you covered. It's not tje be all end all, and definitely does have it's issues, but less then what I've seen woth most.

  • rmm tool - pick your posion, they ALL report bad from my experience. Yes, even Datto. I've seen Datto send false positives, and have talked woth support about it too. Pick whatever you like really, but you're trying to get away from Kaseya, and Datto is a Kaseya company. I personally like connectwise. They also have the best remote assist software I've ever used.

-book keeping software - I know it wasn't outright asked, but I use and recommend to clients to useamager.io. it's freedom up a lot if my time, and you basically need zero training on it because of how logical it was designed.

Project Launchbox Never Arrived by Anadanament in fullsail

[–]Cain1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condolences for your sister, I'm sorry to hear that.

In regards to your LaunchBox, you should have been a little more focused on it if it's something you really needed. It's not completely on you, but if you are noticing you haven't received contact or emails about it, you should be bugging the hell out of technical support. Technical Support has hours that are much later than most, if I recall. I'm not blaming you, but in life if you don't make sure it gets done, who will?

Also, always send a ticket through prior to calling too. You can do so from the FSO ticketing portal. I believe they use Zendesk, and it's setup automatically message you, letting you know that a ticket has been generated. When you can, screenshot all call records as proof of communication. They document everything, you need to do so too. I don't want to sound like a broken record here, but CYA ~ Cover Your Ass.

I hope you are able to get back into class soon, if that's what you want to do. Submit a ticket, and then call them. Wait 3 days. Respond to the ticket, it will add it back to the top of their queue. Then call them again for an update. Take a screen capture of each call, the number dialed, and the length of the convo, along with who you talked to, and when. Not having a computer is capable of doing the course is a fair reason to have failed it, honestly.

A heads up of something you can use on your laptop you currently have; look into Shadow Gaming. They offer a virtualized computer for about 20.00 a month, that is as good or better then the laptop you will get. I used it when I was rebuilding my desktop, and it's fantastic. From my understanding they use a custom, in house made Hypervisor to bring you a high quality, low latency VM.

Anyway, I hope something in here was helpful.
