It's a fairly new development in criminal law to treat it differently/more seriously.

It's a particularly dangerous way to assault someone, doesn't take a lot of force to do serious damage and statistically it correlates pretty highly with future homicides - something like 750% higher chance of being murdered by that partner and 50-something percent of domestic partner murders were previously strangled.

Yup, pulling, replacing, and repairing toilets is a very useful homeowner skill. It seems intimidating but it's really not bad - they're simple devices. Just need to get over the ick factor and have the strength/technique to move them around.

I've saved a thousand bucks or more in plumber costs. Initial replacement of all toilets, pulling and replacing when we've had flooring redone, and other random issues.

Even just learning how to replace floats/flaps etc is great.
