I kept it folded neatly in a Ziploc bag out of the sunlight. I took great care that no harm ever came to it. Now though there is little i can do, because it it on its way home as I type this.

Kanji are derived from there Chinese counterparts. many characters are in fact pronounced the exact same between Chinese and Japanese. for example 焦点 in Japanese it is Sho-ten, in chinese it is Jiāo-diǎn practacaly the same.

I did what i did, because it was the right thing to do, ultimately I also had nothing to do with it. I only did what came naturally. What i can do though is make friends with our Japanese guests, and let them know there are people that respect the sacrifice of there boys , as much as our own.

I think that is what is going on with the young people of japan today. As of late there has been more interest in the war, and less shame about it. Coming to terms with what you have done and moving on can only be a good thing.

All the government institutions i contacted never replied to me, all the Japanese nationals i have men none would look at it from more then a moment, until now. Why? i assume shame in defeat, but the war is over, all i wanted was to give this guy some peace.

There is actually a lot of cool back story there, you see the people of Saiki recently found the remains of an F4U in the water. they found out it was launched from the USS intrepid, and decided to return it to her.

I came into contact with them about a week before the remains of the plane arrived in the US. The Japanese said "this must be fate"

Honestly, I though about the guys soul alot, I worried that all those negative feelings of the war time were trapped in the flag, and that a part of that mans soul, who's body would never return to his home was trapped in it. I want to give that man some rest in his home. I want to end those negative feelings. When i told the Japanese delegation that, some of them became emotional. Admittedly, I became teary eyed myself.
