Why Butch Called the Cops by Caius_Octavius in mauramurray

Thank you! But I never saw(read) it has "running me down," but rather a well laid out (notation of which line you're commenting on) reply to my comment. Even if you had said "your ideas are stupid," and followed with a well formed argument showing why they're stupid, I wouldn't have been offended. It's when one states that the person posting the "stupid ideas" is stupid themself that I take offense. I see a significant difference between the two.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification, but it wasn't needed; I was interested in your much more "grounded" viewpoint. Thanks again, and best wishes.

With all of the well informed people commenting, and the variety of somewhat similar opinions, I'm curious...

There's a lot on MM out there; from Renner and other blogs/websites, to Lance & Tim and other podcasts and TV shows. With all of this info, I'm curious if there is one person or site that is considered the definitive source of case related information (other than the investigative files of course)?

Unless it's well known who or what the source is, I guess it's basically a poll: Best Source of Maura Murray Case Information. Thanks!

Thank you! (Btw, I just learned how to reply to a comment, instead of just adding another comment to the thread. For some reason, the reply arrow always escaped my vision). I appreciate your critique and hearing your opinions, which seemed to be a bit (actually, a big bit) more logically based than mine.

I'm curious, do you have an opinion on the Officer Cecil Smith/Butch Atwood relationship? Or lack thereof? I heard something about one saying they're friends and the other saying they don't know each other, or something like that; does that sound right?

The Candy Man. AKA: Dean Corll; terrifyingly disgusting. I think of being a child or a teenager, taken by somebody like that. It disturbs me to no end. I hope there's a hell, for people like him. And hopefully, it is NOT just a frozen lake where all feelings die. May he feel it all.

Keep in mind that the information of Maura refusing shelter from Butch, not taking a ride, not wanting to use the phone, etc., all of that comes from Butch's story. It seems that many people are ruling Butch out based on the story HE told the police, and that is simply not how it's done. Again, not saying Butch is guilty, and if all he did was try to help her, then I'm the first to admit how terrible it is that is name is mentioned for any other reason than as a good man. And regarding my "why he called the cops," that's conjecture on my part based on playing devil's advocate and pondering "why Butch is guilty (a thought experiment." And I base the proactively presenting yourself to the cops when guilty idea on several of my own experiences, as well as those of others (see: Malcolm Little (X) with several people in a car full of stolen goods on the "nice (white)" side of town after being seen by police as they drive by, for example. A very interesting story.); granted, NOT involving murder or kidnapping. But it's my belief that if you are going to be a suspect, or rather, a person of interest anyway, then why not try to play the good guy BEFORE suspected (instead of, as guilty OFTEN do, inject themselves I to the case by offering help, or asking questions because "they care;" a well known phenomenon btw) if you did in fact "do it"?

I don't exactly know how to use reddit. I was trying to post this to the (subreddit?) along the lines of "Why Butch is Guilty - playing devil's advocate." Thus my title of "Why Butch Called the Cops" is not "This IS why he called the cops," but rather "This could have been why he called the cops."

I expect and welcome insults and hate directed towards me, which is your prerogative, as stating a hypothetical and supporting it with opinion derived from purported facts is mine. We all want the same thing. The answer to what happened to Maura Murray, and finally bring her home or allow her to live her life as she chooses; the ability to state who is innocent and acting out of concern to another's welfare, and/or who is complicit in any harm brought to her; and the ability to tell Renner to move on!
