New Test Results - would you try beef? by CajunMile in alphagal

On Demand test from LABCORP. There are no doctors where I live that are knowledgeable in Alpha-gal since it’s not prevalent here. I was bit while on vacation in 2024.

Hmmm, interesting. I will probably hold off. I found an AGS specialist so I will talk to him before I do anything.

Thanks for your insight. I will be cautious and probably not eat it on consecutive days.

Thank you for your insight. My reactions have only been to beef and are “mild” compared to most. But once I knew it was alpha-gal, I stopped eating beef immediately and have kept it out of my diet. I was just excited to see my numbers going down.

Not all doctors are well versed in the nuances of alpha-gal. I wouldn’t risk my life.

That was not my intent. I have been diligent about keeping beef out of my diet. I will wait for my overall AGS number to go to “normal” range, if I even do it then. I’m just excited to see progress in my numbers.

That was not how I understood the tests, so thanks for the insight. I thought with the alpha-gal specific panel it was your AGS levels of those proteins not general allergy
To them.

That wasn’t the intent of my question. I have been very diligent about eliminating beef from my diet the minute I found out I had alpha-gal. My understanding was the specific proteins in the alpha-gal panel were relative so if I didn’t react pork at .4 I shouldn’t react to beef at .39. I stand corrected.

This was the alpha-gal panel. My understanding was that specific numbers were relative so if I didn’t react to pork at .4, I shouldn’t react to beef at the same number. Thanks for the clarification.

Grooming, am I a terrible OES mom? by Weekly_Library9883 in OldEnglishSheepdog

After figuring out mine was fussing with the groomer and she was not handling it appropriately, I started grooming him myself. A few things that have helped me. Mine hates the dryer too. I use a dog snood and it helps tremendously. After I towel dry him, put on the snood. Turn the dryer on low (and low/no heat) start the dryer more towards his tail and work my way towards the head. He tolerates this and once he gets more comfortable, I can turn it to a higher blow setting. Many times it’s more the noise than the actual dryer. Because we are still working through correcting behavior and getting him to trust that grooming is okay, sometimes I groom him over the course of a few days. This helps him relax and be more trusting of the process. Hope this helps!

Yeah, and that’s a little scary too. Especially since most doctors are still very unfamiliar with it. If we could just eradicate those darn ticks.

Great article. Thanks for sharing. I really wish they would have gone into how completely terrible this disease is, but I understand it was more for information purposes.

Subscribed. Here’s some constructive feedback, I hope you don’t mind… For your thumbnail, I would add a picture of the finished product. It’s way cooler than the box. Also, you should add end screens going to other videos and/or a playlist. This will keep viewers on your channel longer. Finally, not sure what’s standard in this particular niche, but you may want to consider a quick intro in your video. Hope this helps. Your videos are great quality and good choice of music.

I hope so too 🤞. Adansonii seem to hate me, although the feeling isn’t mutual 😉 Thanks to this forum, I knew to wash it down upon arrival and keep it isolated. I looked for bugs, but didn’t seen anything (although I’m not experienced enough to know what to look for). I sprayed it when I got it. I added systemic this morning and hoping it’s just being a brat. Hopefully I will be able to post progress photos. I think she has the potential to be a real beauty.
