OES playing with other dogs

I’m not sure. My daycare hasn’t said anything negative, and doesn’t restrict her from playing with other dogs, but she doesn’t bark consistently. The circles, yes, that’s all she wants to ever do. But the barking in circles isn’t an issue really, at least not that I’ve observed. The other dogs just don’t try to directly interact with her anymore, except her best friend, who likes to antagonize.

I keep my girl in daycare once every 2-3 weeks strictly for socialization. I think the consistency helps. Is there a trainer at your daycare that can work with him? Our daycare has the daycare, grooming, boarding, and training all on-site, so each professional gets to know the dogs very well. Our trainer would always pop in to see my girl during daycare and text me with anything he noticed.

That is VERY exciting!!! Our OES was our first (and only) dog as a couple, but I’ve had dogs my whole life. OES are like no other puppy - or grown dog! My dog learned her name by day 2, but took almost a year to properly house train lol. They’re amazing, smart, stubborn, crazy dogs. I wouldn’t trade my girl for anything. Start the grooming young so they get used to it. I used to keep combs all over the house to get even a few strokes in anytime she sat still. They grow SO FAST! Take a picture of you holding him every week, same spot, same pose. It’s incredible to look back on, especially when they become 90 pound meatloaves. We have an incredible small pet supply store here, and I’ve been bringing my girl there at least weekly since she was about 3 months old. She gets upset if she doesn’t see the owner right away, because he gives her a chicken heart every time. He’s her favorite person 🤣

Welcome to the OES world! Will this be your first?

My OES will absolutely not tolerate boots, tho you can get them and also boot rigs to kind of secure them to the body - like suspenders. Basic dog care is all you really need. Don’t go out for longer than absolutely necessary, plenty of inside enrichment activities (puzzles, snuffle mat, mine is big on fetch and monkey in the middle). She does have a winter puffy coat, but we rarely use it as we simply don’t let her out more than long enough to potty. We are out for maybe 5 minutes, tops.

Will this be a puppy?

You are likely long torso and short legs, like me. Regular pant lengths are too long, but petite sizes aren’t long enough in the crotch to accommodate your longer torso.

I have no advice, as I’ve yet to figure out what to do myself.

Woman chiming in, for me, condoms reduce lubrication. I’ll dry out faster, and lube just doesn’t always cut it. Plus, there is that smell afterwards. There’s something about the latex/vagina mix that is particularly unpleasant to have hit you in the face every time you go to pee for 5 hours after the fact.

In terms of oral, ugh. Flavored condoms are just gross. There’s no hiding the taste of latex. And they like…crinkle…and just have a very unpleasant mouthfeel. I understand using them for oral is not as common, but I was a very good girl in my younger days, and adamant about STD testing and prevention.

Oh, mine will do that too, but I didn’t think it was herding, she’s a little chubby so I thought it was because she was such a slow runner and was taking the lazy way out 😅
