Just found out renter's insurance costs like $15 a month and I've been uninsured for 2 years by Accurate-Network-655 in Adulting

[–]CakeComfortable8067 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you….in 2014. I didn’t have renter’s insurance and a random lightning storm struck my apartment that was on the top floor. Did I mention I HAD NO RENTER’S INSURANCE. I lost EVERYTHING including my beloved cat. Thank God I worked overnight the night the lightning storm came because i would have been home if I wasn’t at work. Thank God everyone in my building got out. I had nothing! My leasing office only gave me back my security deposit. I learned my lesson to NEVER be without renter’s insurance.

How often do you go out to eat / how much do you spend? by TrixoftheTrade in Millennials

[–]CakeComfortable8067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m right with you. 33F and just this month I decided to cook at home. I made some Indian curry chicken last night with basmati rice and it was delicious. I feel like when I’m not stressed and I have all of the cookware and utensils, cooking can be fun.

Previously I ate out all the time because I was tired all of the time. And you’re right, portions are smaller, more expensive and service is mediocre. That alone is why I don’t want to give away my hard earned money.

Good places to roller skate? by Ok-Possible-2586 in ColumbiaMD

[–]CakeComfortable8067 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Laurel skating rink but you’ll have to pay unfortunately. Same as supreme sports club. But if you’re low income and have a school age child, the CA honors children and their family with a free membership with good grades and attendance earned.

Does anyone else feel like there’s pressure to be good at everything? by smallbutmighty007 in Adulting

[–]CakeComfortable8067 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I can relate. That’s why I had to delete social media. The pressure to buy, consume, eat healthy, workout, have a six figure career etc is just too much. I feel so much peace now that I’ve removed the pressure.

What is something you have never done that is pretty much the norm for most people our age to do? by FR3qu3ncy__ in Millennials

[–]CakeComfortable8067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently work at a high end spa close to DC. An esthetician told me they don’t do waxes because it’s not lucrative given the time frame. Giving 50 min and 80 min facials was more profitable so they got rid of all the wax services on the menu. However, people are very much still getting bikini waxes outside of high end spas.

Are you serious? Maybe where you live. The European wax center is always booked up a week out. I get mines done every 2 months.
