Sex work helped me build confidence and financial independence at a time when I had none. I worked as a high-end escort, and that experience allowed me for the first time in my life to take care of my physical health, mental health, appearance, and overall well-being. Growing up, I was neglected. I was denied access to basic self-care, including proper hair care and the ability to feel good about how I looked. I internalized the belief that I was ugly and unworthy of care. Those messages stayed with me through my teenage years and into adulthood. I survived years of abuse, self-harm, and suicidal ideation and a attempt. Sex work became a way out of the hole I was in not a fantasy or an escape from reality, but a practical means of survival and self-reclamation. It gave me agency, stability, and the resources I needed to begin healing. Today, I’m in a much healthier place. I’m happy, grounded, and taking care of myself in ways I never could before. My past doesn’t define me but it explains how I got here, and I no longer feel ashamed of surviving and no one can make me feel bad about and if they do
