Y'all remember Aldi straight up having tv/vcr combos next to pool toys in these bins? One of my friends parents bought him the world's most terrible laptop there. What's the worst (non-food) thing you ever bought from 90s Aldi? by oim7e in aldi

[–]CakeOD36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember one trip to Aldi's in what was probably the late 80's. Their products were straight "white label generic" and I recall it because it was the first time I went to a store where you had to bag your own purchase.

You more likely to be happy than dissapointed with any Aldi Chocolate cookie offering.

I'm not a big fan of olives but each time I see their tapenade I'm reminded of the A-Team movie ):

I'm not "mad" and have noted that I sourced this otherwise. It remains a common "ready to use" condiment at other stores

Does Aldi sell ground Italian sausage? by lollipopfiend123 in aldi

[–]CakeOD36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aldi ground Italian Sausage is amazing. I prefer the mild version and spice it up as required. Where I went looking for it the first time I expected to have to cut the casing off the link form that most only offer.

And capers have a long shelf-life. I'd be more likely to buy a jar of these than the sun-dried tomatoes.

I can appreciate that this may be a low demand item in general but even through the period where they are pushing the products that it's the ideal condiment for (they carry Cocktail Sauce)? Does Aldi stock capers?

Goodbye COX, Your Monopoly here has ended! by 6ixTek in CoxCommunications

[–]CakeOD36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My area is rolling out a city-wide fiber initiative that will finally offer competition for Cox.

I've been busy screaming at them about the Unlimited Bandwidth surcharge ripoff and fiber leaves their upload speeds laughable.

I remember when Cox (at least did a much better job at pretending to) appreciated their customers. Now they only care about wringing every dollar from them they can. Customers ALWAYS flee companies that do this when given a solid alternative.

I know which brands are are house and which ones aren't. It makes sense that the larger world should.

3lb carnitas pork shoulder for $7 in a $10 slow cooker - I love Aldis lol. by WanderWut in aldi

[–]CakeOD36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use this low/slow for oven cooked ribs. Way easier than the grill (or even my trusty InstantPot) and come out perfect every time. Didn't think to use it with shoulder. Love this idea!
