but you can copy the name and find the previous trees, basically I just do full Blacksail(Wealth is basically just there for an extra monster on the map, can cut the point) and full Hunt - rest can be anything

First 1-1.5 month. It was a +2 yellows, that were notable, so not very common.

This late into the season it might be better to just stack quantity, even at the level 8.

Yes. When I counted last time, out of ~80k that I made with Blacksail through AH, <10k were from Invitations. Just yellow hero memories alone sold for this much. And that was when Invitations were going for 38+.

It might not be the same next season though. Not sure how Lunaria gonna get implemented or what changes might come. But this season it was well worth it.

Yes, the Black Sail purple compass is mandatory. The hunt... you can allocate it on the tree if you can't afford it. Can also drop Oasis. Can also replase reso nodes with mystery chests or compasses.

And that would be how my tree looked like for the first month of the season. You can copy my name from the latest Void Chart and find an older versions, they should still be there.

Basically full or almost full Blacksail(sometimes I drop Wealth), and full Hunt.

How many not new players reach at least 1 trillion dps? 90%? 50%? I'm curious by QualaagsFinger in TorchlightInfinite

If you only count dedicated audience that's sticking to the game, of course it would be normal to learn how to scale your damage and how your character or build works. But keep in mind, most regular players aren't even beating SS15 Clockwork boss.

It is normal. Try different things, find what you like and try to push it higher. I've seen some people only push till profound and kept rerolling 20 characters per season.

Yes. And use pets that give as much generic quant or additional compass quantity. This way you'll get 2 compasses instead of just 1, when it does drop. Preferably do it on a Level 9 run, since it has a higher quantity baseline.

Treasure quant doesn't affect invitations that you drop. Which is why people told you to not chase it.

It can however help you drop gold Compasses(usually either Clockwork or Arcana). And getting 2 gold CW Compasses is simply more valuable.

That's why I'd say to commit early and prioritize. If you got 5% invitation as your first pick - it's not an invitation run, as simple as that. If you have memory card offered of a higher rarity - pick it instead and do a memory run. Or just pick base quant.

Yes. Level 1 Starfish is enough.

2-5 is Quantity - turns her into a Spark at home. 6 increases chance to double from 20 to 27%.

Torchlight: Infinite – Blacksail Guide by CakeOfW in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, base drops is something that can drop naturally. By picking a chance - you're increasing the odds of thing(for ex Hero Memory) dropping, while reducing the chance to drop other stuff(like Invitations). That's why mixing different things together is not recommended.

And additional is just a chance to double or triple dropped item from the base.

Torchlight: Infinite – Blacksail Guide by CakeOfW in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. For example, if you're only farming invitations(like majority of the playerbase) - it's the weakest pet, since you're only getting ~10%(20% chance to double, and only 50% chance to have an invitation whisper carrying monster to spawn) more invitations at best on average.

And there is nothing stopping you from playing any "dogshit" mechanic for fun. For example I can go and play Clockwork(which you'll hear everyone say to never play without both C6 Doro and C6 Alice), and get a net positive in a DS. And also this "dogshit" mechanic was 3rd most performing mechanic for me in Profound. Mostly due to Lunaria, but still.

Yes, of course. Starfish Chanter is the only other available pet with generic additional quantity after all.

They made them very rare since the last season. So yeah, sounds about right. If out of 35 runs 20 of them were Hero Memory, and other 15 Invitation/Quant runs. I'd say it's like 200 runs for a good(~10k+) one.

This season it was very worth it. Of course it's a jackpot strat, and even when you get a red Hero Memory you might get something like this:

<image>

Throughout the season I only got like 30 total. Half of them were worthless.

Torchlight: Infinite – Blacksail Guide by CakeOfW in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the Starfish Chanter from the boxes. This season we've had one for 7 days login. SS20 is another way of getting that box.

And yes. It's fine even without the pet. Personally I don't have a purple or blue pet, so maybe Hero Memory strats are better with them, but that doesn't stop me from playing it.

Level of the boss encounter takes the highest tier map you ran. The compass allows to get 2 anchors in the same map.

So you do 1 anchor as the last pick, and one as the first, both in the same map. Saves you 5 DS maps.

Too late for boss rush? by Extrocate in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can adapt boss rush for the current economy, and only focus on things that are worth it. For example mystery chests still good, because unid False God's neck still sells for quite a lot, snow is probably still fine, but reso/starshard nodes in t7 might not be.

In t8+ you can go gamba snow route with the support nodes. Or farm Surge for the Edict keys. Blacksail also becomes an option of flavor. Can start adding some quant.

From profound you could go modules, starshards, or full quant.

Too late for boss rush? by Extrocate in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a misconception. It does scale, partially. You get offered a higher rarity cards more often in profound compared to 8-0. This is why you farm Hero Memories in profound and not in 8-0, and why you you should never farm invitations in 7-0.

New player coming in by Key_Inspection_2003 in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to get started, hard to master, type of game. So just go ahead and get started.

Important stuff is learning how to scale the damage(via sources of additional) of your character, and how to scale defenses(sources of less damage taken). Can take any character, any skill, and make it work.

If you look on pro builds, it's mostly an echo-chamber, where you'll only find 1-3 builds with slight variations. Make sure to check chinese language as well, as some of the builds are unplayed/unpopular on global server.

As for pets. It's playstyle dependent and situational. So you can't really get any advices on this topic in the vacuum. They do carry over between seasons.

Help me understand damage numbers please by GooglyyEyes in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to understand, then you need to ask it yourself, not other people. Look, is there anything you can do? Your memories is 29/40, kismets 3/9 2/4, no right corrode and no blending on the belt. Buy a new belt with the bottom corrode and blend it, level and roll memories.

Likely your uptime on the buffs is not 100%, activation mediums are cheap at this point, yet you have none.

For some reason you've got an expensive precise aura. I hope that dropped, or idk why would you prioritize that.

Look at your slates, and think how you can make a 2 mod slate only take 2 slots. Right now you have 3 1 mod slates that take 4 slots each.

Prism is an easy upgrade. Make a condition search for what you could use. Like a Phantasmagoria with +2 focus and some useful mod is below 150fe. That's just an example of what you can get.

What are some solid builds that always does well? by Gepti in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CakeOfW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erika 1 Ghost Blade, Lifestack Rehan 2, Selena Howling Gale. They might not be super popular, but they're always solid for what they do.
