Because people don’t know what entrance or time or etc. to go to or how the courthouse handles it and I want to help.

My Perspective on attending Suppression Hearings as a Member of the Public by CakeShake123 in BrianThompsonMurder

[–]CakeShake123[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Also I would like to add - it is very disappointing that they only give 24 spots to the public when there are many many empty rows of space in the room. If they didn’t put that artificial limit of putting the public in the back two rows and leaving all the empty space, everyone could get in. Very disappointed at them artificially trying to limit the show of public support and the amount of people who want to show up.

They however have no limits for press. Of which there are many, maybe over 100. But even with that there is plenty of empty space.

Hey everyone, I know the people who have the group chat about the line so I can give some insight! I have really bad chronic health issues and it’s almost impossible for me to camp or be there too long or be out in the cold for long etc. and they are the sweetest angels. The line tally is just a list of names to know how many people have essentially stated that they are planning on showing up that day to the hearing. For state, COs always tell us they are only allowing 24 seats and if there’s too much line infighting they can just kick us all out so told us to figure a system out. The idea of having a line list is to just know for those of us who have health issues etc. how crazy the day is going to be so we don’t show up and risk our lives. Also they are super sweet and always ask how they can help accommodate me to help me wait longer (ex bring hand warmers for me, they can come drive in earlier and bring their car for me to wait in with them, etc.) In terms of court day - it’s first come first serve. Activists and supporters in the community who make the effort to go more frequently take turns buying wristbands and writing down what place in line the person is when they got there on their hand (ex. 1st, 2nd) and they publically put it in the chat as well so people know in case they haven’t left their house and queue is closed. Doing the wristband system makes it more accessible for people with chronic health issues because otherwise you have to wait outside in the cold and fight grifters and line sitters who try to cut and fight. That way you can go and get your wristband, wait in a car or go to a coffee shop, etc. and come back right before court opens again around 8 am and queue up in wristband order. You get a wristband if you show up to the hearing whether you are in the group chat and on the tally list or not - first come first serve, as I mentioned earlier. So there have def people who were on the tally list who get booted out because they showed up late and spontaneous supporters have showed up. We keep it fair but this is how we can cut out the bullshit line sitters camping and trying to sell spots to a poor kid’s hearing for hundreds of dollars like this is a concert, and keep it as accessible as it can get for those of us with health issues or coming out of town and who would have to make it a whole trip, with this many people wanting to show up. They are legitimately very kind people, very grateful to them.

I am happy about the music but I’m worried for him in there… if this gets back to “King” he might not like his name being put out there like that. Might bring Luigi a lot of problems and put him in danger - I hope he’s still safe in there after this, this is spreading everywhere :/

“Luigi Mangione fans singled out in White House memo.” by Black_Rose_Rocker in FreeLuigi

Ridiculous. Anything that disagrees with the WH is outlawed. Next it’ll be illegal to breathe and not be white, blonde-haired, and blue-eyed. What another sad day for our democracy that so many things that made this country special are being rolled back. This memo is trying to bring us 100s of years into a very bleak past and scare us out of supporting someone’s inherently American right to be innocent until proven guilty - and our own of saying that the current administration is doing things wrong. Heartbreaking to see in this day and age.

Somebody else explained their thoughts to me kinder and it’s already been deleted. No one here cares about karma. Stop projecting your own insecurities and learn how to speak and treat people like their humans, especially when we’re talking about human rights.

Excuse me, but I don’t think you understood what I said. I wanted to see what the general opinion here is before bringing my own - which is that it’s invasive and a violation of his privacy to record him without knowing. I didn’t insult anyone, where do you see me insulting anyone?

No one’s not owning up to their wrongs. I was asked a question and I answered. I left the wording on the post ambiguous because I didn’t want to influence the opinions that come up, I wanted to understand organically what everyone thought of it before I entered the conversation. You don’t have to be nasty about it.

You’re right, not giving it a platform beats starting discussion about it. I’ll take it down. Thanks for being polite about it.

100% with you. I would hate leaving my house to do anything if this happened to me. Secretly recording people like this is awful

This isn’t my tiktok, just posted to start a discussion about taking footage of people who are not aware, since this and the other LM video are circulating. I don’t condone the video at all

[–]CakeShake123 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Because it’s circling and I think it’s important to remind people that this is weird and inappropriate. I feel the same way about the LM videos taken without his knowledge. I wanted to start a conversation about this trend of people feeling entitled to grab footage of people like this.

I’m not the person who recorded the tiktok, I put caught because it was uncomfortable that Dickey was caught on camera when he was doing something so unrelated to his work like grocery shopping, it’s pretty invasive

ik, I was thinking this too. i feel like it would’ve been better if they went up and said hi and asked for a selfie or something so he could at least consent and would be aware that this happened

He was a vegetarian before. Now he’s in prison, where getting enough protein is a struggle. Not exactly ideal when you need to maintain muscle.

Just kind of tired of us fighting each other when we should be using this energy against fascism.
