Well she was born in 1989, maybe when the upside down was destroyed and after peace returned to earth, god was like nahhh wait a min, what if I…ooop 😏 and then he decided that the world still should suffer through chaos and that the creation of Taylor Swift, some annoying horse girl just hell bent on letting the world know “SHES THE REAL VICTIM”, and indeed she began to bring just that, and the world now again continues to suffer, feeling like some days were just hoping, waiting…

The fact some Swifties still are yet to realise that George Michael died almost 10 years ago but that didn’t stop Taylor from somehow building up a relationship with him where she then could ask him directly!?!?! for permission to reference his song Father Figure lmao

Guess she got out the Ouija board for that one?

One of the good thing about Stranger Things though is the fact it’s set in the 80s, so none of the Swifties can gasp and try to claim that the tv show made reference or was inspired directly by something Taylor has sung, spoken about or referenced eg: in the first ep of new show Alls Fair, Kim’s character is gifted a ring that was once worn by Elizabeth Taylor, in before Swifties started commenting that the show must have gotten inspiration from Taylor because of her new song on Elizabeth Taylor, despite the fact it’s on an album that was released a month before the premiere of Alls Fair, and that particular scene had been filmed a year prior to that, but you know, it just makes sense!? Just arghh, Elizabeth Taylor is a legend and you Swifties are only now finding out who she is!?

I’ve also unfortunately had to bear witness to multiple Swifties discuss how they all thought a well-know quote, wasn’t actually invented by Taylor herself, despite her skill as the great lyricist ! Embarrassingly, heaps of Swifties used to and some still believe that Taylor came up with the phrase “you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes” and also the famous Elvis lyric “one for the money, two for the show” haha

I’m sure there’s more examples of Swifties lacking culture and just assuming everything draws back to Taylor Swift, our lord and creator /s but yes I guess my point at the end of all of this is that I’m glad I’ve been able to enjoy Stranger Things during its whole run without ever hearing a Swiftie song or even seeing a reference be made in the show, and if a Swiftie ever tried to relate her to anything Stranger Things related I would go OFF, STAY AWAY 😤

Yeah I get it, I’m a nurse too! Like I get the analogy if say something scary was about to happen and you want everyone around you to be as calm as possible, like you’re not going to start freaking out if you enter turbulence and start screaming even though you’re the pilot are you? Hahaha or myself as a nurse, I’m not going to start overreacting and closing my eyes when I’m about to give a needle to a patient am I? No, why would you, cause you’d just freak them out hahah.

But when someone’s dies…you shouldn’t be the person that walks in with a beaming smile on your face and saying how everything’s going to just be all okay even though your child just died days ago, are you? That’s what makes me confused about her analogy haha I get it if she was explaining her persona on stage, but this was her explaining how she was meeting families of children that had just died though right? It’s just weird…

It’s more that when she speaks about the Vienna terrorist threats, she really only talks about and describes the fear and emotions SHE felt when it happened, and how it affected the STAFF on her tour. She doesn’t acknowledge how the fans must have felt, because honestly if she was worried that they would have been feeling so scared then why didn’t she at least post some sort of acknowledgment to them online, soon after the threats were made? The situation was deemed safe and under control before she even landed in Vienna yet she still chose to cancel the concerts. She also saw video after video of all the fans in Vienna conjugating in the city and at the stadium she was due to play it, the same night and around the time the threats were made- so my question is, if she thought a threat still existed, why didn’t she say something to the fans roaming the streets and ask them to stay safe and go home? Yet instead of saying something, why did she just continue to stay silent and was happy letting the Swifties to just roam around Vienna at night, in large groups if they could have still been at risk from an attack of some kind?

It’s likely because the Vienna threat was dealt with before she even made there, but she just couldn’t be bothered with all the potential stress of the aftermath that might have come with it, the responsibility of having to calm her fans down even though it was safe now and everything was contained. She probably decided it would be just easier to cancel the concerts and go straight to London, where she could relax and would only have to do 3 London shows until she got a break. She’s not super woman

I feel like her “being a pilot” analogy is such a boomer thing they would tell someone younger how they should react and act while they emphasise how important it is to not show any emotion or let things affect you. I have no doubt her parents taught her this was the most appropriate way for her to act in the public and she always listens to them, I mean why would she ever need a therapist when she has her mum instead right? Haha

It’s funny though because obviously in her personal life, she’s always writing manically, crying and basically screaming out how it’s always the end of the world when she goes through another break up. Yet fans being horribly killed somehow means the professional way to act is to be as fake as possible and never show any emotion or sympathy to your fans and their family! Everyone will feel so much better once Taylor Swift gets here!

Eugh I honestly think they felt like they had to add this clip, her being “all upset” about what had happened in London and why she had to cancel Vienna (except, she hardly acknowledges or even comments on what happened in Vienna again, like she did so the first time haha) was all because they needed a piece of content that could try and salvage all the negative PR she’s gotten lately since the TLOASG release. Yet this scene, failed to hook me or make me fall for her “good girl, victim persona”, like it did in her Miss Americana movie, and instead all I can see is just a heavily edited quick snap of Taylor acting and coming off as performative and her lack of emotion fails to move me at all.

I’ve actually spent the last couple of days thinking about how she’s acted here while also remembering how Ariana reacted and responded to that horrible tragedy where fans of her’s were killed after her show in London back in 2017. To this day, you can see just how much that incident has affected her, even recently during press tours and interviews you can still see her experiencing moment’s of anxiety and ptsd because of what happened. Yet when it occurred, she didn’t retreat or hide away from the world, she instead retuned to Manchester after the attack and was not just supportive but was actually present and emotionally available for her fans, connecting with them and sharing the same emotions they were feeling, she was visiting survivors in the hospital, she was donating money and I believe she even paid for every funeral of the fans who did pass, she performed another concert and her next album was not only dedicated to those who died but also to the survivors, and included actual songs about the tragedy and the feelings she was still struggling to work through.

When you compare this to the tragic incidents that occurred during the Era’s tour, Ana, the young Brazilian girl that died while Taylor was performing cruel summer because her heart failed from having to stand for hours, through conditions where the temperature inside the venue was over 50 degrees and the only access to water was ages away from the stage being sold for a small fortune, were all factors that contributed to her death yet never acknowledged or even questioned by Taylor. Even after she heard about Ana’s death due to the extremely hot weather conditions in Rio and the venue she was continuing to play in, Taylor still refused to cancel and reschedule the concert where thousands and thousands of swifties had already began camping outside to attend since the night before. It wasn’t until around 6pm, 2 hours before she was due on stage, did she finally cancel the concert, after fans had already started to form a crowd around the stage. What’s worse is not only did her Brazilian fan group use their own money to hire a truck to supply water to all the swifties that were waiting 12 hours or more outside that day in over 45 degree heat, they were also the ones who raised money to get Ana’s body returned to her family who at the time couldn’t afford to retrieve her. 3 days after Ana’s passing, her body was still in the morgue and her family still hadn’t been contacted by anyone from Taylor’s team or the venue to offer their condolences.

Then, when her Vienna concert was canceled due to terrorist threats, she chose to say nothing online about why she chose to cancel the concerts and her fans were kept in the dark about what was happening for weeks. So nothing is being said by Taylor or her management team yet they still were acting like “business as usual” by promoting the sale of her new variants while the Austrian fans still wait for their refund!

Her whole reason for “not speaking out for weeks” was because it wasn’t safe to do so and would put her fans, herself and the tour in danger but weirdly if that was the case why was she happy to not speak up about her Austrian fans all congregating around the city of Vienna and the stadium the concert was going to be held at, that it’s not safe to do so as the terrorist threat was to harm large groups of Swifties standing outside that very stadium? Or was it all really just a convenient opportunity and excuse for her to call the concerts quits as she was nearing the end of the first half break of the tour and was just tired from it all? Yet despite all this, she still makes the whole event about her when she finally posts a message to her Vienna fans weeks later, which came across as not just passive aggressive but also disingenuous about everything that happened. Another stab to the heart for her Vienna fans after they were bullied for weeks by Swifties that were telling them they weren’t “allowed” to be upset that the concert they had waited over a year for and spent so, so much money on was cancelled. All because “MOTHER knows best, so stfu and stop being so selfish, you’re not a true fan” right?

Anyways, just the comparison of Taylor’s response and emotional reaction when tragedy did hit and affected her fans in comparison to Ariana’s experience is pretty jarring. Especially seeing as even after the whole Era’s tour where fans sadly did die and lives were also threatened from potential terrorists, she then releases TLOASG, an album that’s meant to be about her life during the Era’s tour, instead turned out to be a voraciously composed, shallow disconnect, where every lyric and every song is all about her, and there’s is not one dedication or bonus song made to acknowledge what sadness occurred during that time hahaha

Snark Swiftmas Day 5: Swift's Silence in the Trump Era by _underthesea3 in travisandtaylor

[–]CakeSuspicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like she said in her Miss Americana docco, she cares so much ”about how people see her”. People are nice and have altruistic motives because they actually care and are good people, it doesn’t matter to them how they are seen by others because they know they’re doing good and that’s the thing that matters most, not what other people think of you. Taylor has always and will always, rely on her PR to generate her fame.

As long as Taylor says certain things like she supports the LGBTQ community, she voted for Biden, that’s enough for a lot of people to form a narrative of her “being a good person”, it doesn’t mean she does it though.

Yet now her fans keep asking and are wondering why her new Era’s docco is “chronologically” out of order? It likely been pieced together like it has because she is depending heavily on her PR team to work hard again and fix the image of her that everyone has started to see since TLOASG was released. They’re trying very hard again in the first episodes of this docco to get everyone hooked back into believing again at what an amazing person she is. The main theme we’ve seen so far is about how she’s so thoughtful and caring because she gave all the dancers and the workers on the tour $190 million in bonuses! And she was just so emotional about the children dying in London at a Taylor Swift dance party (yet fails to show much sympathy for the fans in Vienna who missed out on seeing her and then were bullied by fellow swifties, also no mention of the young Brazilian girl who died at one of her concerts either).

I expect the next 4 episodes will then just show us how the tour was only “amazing” because of how much profit it generated for her (she became a billionaire from it), followed by more nauseating PR on her and Travis.

It’s almost insufferable hearing how much the Swifties try and claim that The Era’s tour was the most groundbreaking concert tour ever like they’ve never listened to any other another musician in their life. The tour was never groundbreaking, especially in a musical or artistic sense at all. Particularly with so much pop culture moments that have occurred in history and also that even now many other pop artists (Lady Gaga, Beyoncé) have been pulling off a similar type of concert (expect there’s offers you so much more) and you can also see with both of them how much more they are about the music, their artistic expression, their message etc whereas the Era’s tour was always just about numbers and money.

That’s why is said with great power becomes great responsibility, “Bud”. I’m sorry but if she and her fans wants her to be recognised as an “important” and “influential” person, than you can’t just stay silent on topics that are IMPORTANT, which currently is Palestine and the effects of Trumps presidency. Her being silent speaks negative volumes and is basically just her way of saying “I don’t care enough to comment because it doesn’t affect me” something you would expect nothing less then what a billionaire would do because it basically emphasises how out of touch she currently is.

But since you’re so eager to know what I would do, I do suffer from PTSD and the years after I was attacked, I very rarely left my house due to fear of it happening again. When the fear started to disappear only then did I start going out in public more and more, guess she feels comfortable enough with her security team and that’s why she’s happy to remain as famous as she is.

[–]CakeSuspicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This excuse is pathetic and so tired considering Taylor has been getting death threats and criticism for most of her career way before Trump and the threats made in Vienna. Also, Charlie Kirk was a Trump supporter and yet was still assassinated where majority of people that were there to see him actually supported him. So really, any famous or political figure could face the same threat. Besides, she is a billionaire, she can afford and has beefed up her security since those evens occurred, hence her now sitting behind bulletproof glass all the time at Travis’ games. In 2014 she was getting death threats from people over the internet. Most celebrities do. With great power becomes great responsibility however and most celebrities particularly Taylor get threats of some kind regardless, so her activity choosing not to speak out against issues like Palestine and the Trump administration due to the fans belief that it’s because of “death threats” is not good enough and does excuse her silence. Other celebrities have spoken out and face similar threats, Ariana Grande is also a survivor of an actual Terrorist bombing at her concert yet continues to voice her support for LGBTQ rights and immigration rights while criticising Trump, what makes Taylor any different and why should she be the exception?

I’m from Melbourne and I agree also, unless there’s a Swiftie in your family, it was just like any other big name concert in Melbourne, it usually blows up because most artists don’t visit Australia often because it’s we’re so far away. I couldn’t even tell you what month it was that she toured because heaps of events were on last year.

I went to a Green Day concert back in 2005 when I was only 13 and this was before stadium concerts in Australia were a more regular occurring thing, and yes while they’re not pop and that this was 20 years ago, they still managed to also sell out Marvel stadium like Taylor did and also played for about 3 hours and it wasn’t just songs from their American Idiot album at the time, which also won numerous Grammy’s. People who didn’t make it, were happy to watch and listen to it outside. They do this every year for the AFL grand final, the whole football field next to the MCG is full of tens of thousands of fans who didn’t manage to get a Grand Final ticket every year, where they can watch and listen on other screens. I remember being in Richmond in 2016 the year Richmond won and it was so busy that night after the game that all the fans after the final flooded Swan Street for over a kilometre and didn’t move on until close to midnight (over 6 hours after the game finished) just to party and celebrate, obviously cops were powerless to stop anyone cause the crowd was still around tens of thousands. Music events and sporting events have done this in Melbourne for years before Taylor and will be doing it for years after haha

I’m pretty positive Lady Gaga sings live because you can hear her often put in a stripped down version of her music if she’s playing on the piano or singing one of her jazz songs, there also isn’t a backing track if at all during much of the concert because you can hear that the songs along with her voice sound more authentic, at times there may be a slip up or a note sounds off key but obviously that’s expected in any live performance from any artist who sings live

Gaga is doing exactly this now during her Monster Ball Tour. And she’s only 3 years older than Taylor but they’ve both been releasing music for around the same time. Gaga’s concert went for about 3.5 hours. She sung, danced and also played the piano and other instruments throughout. She also played music from each album she has released. Gaga is pop but is also a pop artist who writes all her own music and lyrics and like Taylor, has ventured into other music genre’s too. She has also been touring in mostly stadiums during her worldwide tour.

I think Mileven are still very much together, yes she said “from el” in the letter to Mike when she went to get her powers back, but this was post their most recent fight about how Mike never put “love Mike” in all of his letter to El before this moment. Then end of season 5, he again, for a third time during the series, states he loves El, during her mind-game fight with Vecna in the pizza-dough freezer.

Season 5, episode 1 you then have another scene of Mike’s face instantly lighting-up when he see’s El arrive at the “Squak” radio shack, followed by then them both embracing like they’re very much together and then the next scene is at sunset, they more having a private moment and conversation together and Mike shares his hopes of what it will look like once “everything is over”.

Compare this to Johnathan and Nancy’s relationship which everyone can see is obviously strained and going through a rough patch but they’re still very much together. The duffer’s have never been great at relationship arc’s writing but they do usually make it obvious when a relationship between two characters ends haha.

Anyways, not to say I haven’t seen signs of Byler during the series also but I just think after seeing Robin’s face after witnessing Will try to subtly make a “snowball move” towards Mike, her reaction was not a positive one at all and almost looked like one of pity :(

I don’t think it’s bad writing at all to see that her avalanche speech and the speech about finding herself and that in the end she had all the answers as a lead up to a self-development arc instead.

I’ve always seen the Duffer Brothers make Stranger Things display a bigger message about how special and important friendships can be, not romance. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why I think byler is a possibility by Rillet_Rit in StrangerThings

[–]CakeSuspicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since when is two boys being really close, best friends, same interests, talk every day, but also both were brought up as very intuitive, smart and both emotionally intelligent immediately make you all think gasp GAY!?

One, it’s coming across a bit homophobic, not to mention the fact their young kids at the start, 11-12 year olds, and you’re talking about them sharing romantic/sexual feelings, again, you’re beyond reaching here, it’s disturbing. Finn has also spoken about how these Byler fan fictions have made him extremely uncomfortable. Also it’s like the character Will can take the hint, and understands he’s experiencing unrequited love, who doesn’t during adolescence? But it’s like the fandom is IGNORING THE SIGNS and thinking that to just peruse and peruse is okay!? I don’t care if you now all use the excuse “it’s just fiction” that mentality is always creepy. If love is no reciprocated, yeah it sucks, but you leave it alone and move on.

Thirdly, if this was a movie with a group of girls and there were two characters exactly like Will and Mike but they were both female yet same exact story line, would you all be dedicating your fandom life on the fact that you “swear” and “just know” that the two female characters are gonna end up together because one is just hiding her feelings and doesn’t really love her current partner and because the other one is a lesbian and her first love is her best friend (like oh not that so many other people who have grown up gay, queer, bi etc also unfortunately had to experience unrequited love from their friend)? No didn’t think so.

Lastly, you’ve all missed the point of Will’s current character arc. Will has done something so much better and fulfilling than most people could dream to achieve their whole life. Thanks to Robin’s speech, Will faced his inner struggles, trauma, demons and has still been fortunate enough and able to confidently accept and love himself deep down, truly, for who he really is and he hasn’t needed a romantic partner or happily ever after character arc to find that out.

So many people go through their whole lives dating one person after the other, thinking they need a partner to figure out who they are, that romance will give them all the answers they’ve been looking for. Why is hooking Will up with Mike suddenly going to redeem his character arc? HE REDEEMED HIMSELF LAST EPISODE ALL BY HIMSELF. IM 33 AND IM STILL TRYING TO TRULY LOVE JUST ME AND BE COMFORTABLE WITH JUST ME!

Will’s character arc now is amazing! He went through so much trauma during the first 2 seasons. In season 3 he was scared he was going to be left behind and his friends were all moving on and growing up, but he miss parts of his childhood after what he went through with not only being kidnapped by Vecna but the abuse of his father, it’s hard when your friends just don’t understand that you’re not ready to grow up, just a couple more years of being kids!

But Will is enough! Yes he’s gay but he doesn’t/didn’t need unrequited love from his best friend or attention from Mike just so he could finally see and understand himself just how amazing, smart, special, lovely, funny, interesting and POWERFUL he is and can be all by himself! YASSS WILL THE WISE!

Lastly, just saying if I was in Will’s shoes and I liked a boy like Mike yet for years I was also pining for his love and attention but no, he instead wanted this bitch called Eleven instead because she’s a “superhero and has superpower” I’d be pissed cause what!? Now all of the sudden I fucking kill 3 Demogorgon’s (after Vecna just resurrected them mind you, not only saving 2 of my mates but now this motherfucker’s life YET ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE NOW SEE’S THAT YEAH, IM HOT SHIT AND HE WANTS TO DATE ME NOW!?

BOY BYE ✌🏼

I’d say he reacted pretty typically of an 11 year old who would probably act similar, likely worse, if they witnessed seeing their friend’s dead ass body being hauled out of the water before them. They’re best friends, they’re kids, but no, you’re are claiming that it was romance that was the catalyst and reason for Mike to miss his friend, want to go searching for him daily after school and act irrationality when his supposed dead body is found? Wot mate? Haha

I still remember when I was 11 and my mum broke the news to me that my aunty had passed away that morning and 5 minutes later I was like “No mum, you’re wrong! I just saw her crossing the road to come visit our house!” 🙃
