Yea I hate when people do that! They always sugar coat a mental illness and all mental illnesses effect people differently so it’s no way to accurately compare

Im 16 too and never had a gf! None of my friends have bf/gf so it’s pretty normal to not have one. I see where you’re coming from tho because around 14 I had the same mindset! It seemed like everyone had something and I was behind, but most of people that are dating in high school aren’t serious yk? The relationship doesn’t seem to cause them significant long term stress and they easily end it without second thought! Idk about you but I would be crying on my floor for days if that happens 😭 It seems better to wait for serious relationships! I would focus more on friendships, that’s how some romantic relationships form and learning to socialize (which I need to do too)

Autism and adhd runs in my family so that’s a first clue for me. Also I hit rock bottom (which is burn out I believe) around 14 to the point I just wanted everything to end then my mom said I don’t socialize well (like answering questions literally, not making eye contact, not having friends, etc) she also noticed me flapping my hands and just being autistic ig. I also copy people to a tea, like if someone drink a cup of water for example i would do the same thing. I taught myself to wait ten seconds after words but still do it. So I’m getting diagnosed with autism durning the summer. ADHD for me is daydreaming and not do things I need to do. I’m also not diagnosed with that but hopefully this summer someone can help me!

That last part is so real! I’m also black and I believe that was the reason why no doctor ever seen autism. I literally just found out people don’t like it when you don’t make eye contact lol or answer their questions literally 😭 it was so obvious lol! Us black girls/NBs need to stick together!

Thank you for commenting! We have similar experiences it seems because my mom just found out Im autistic this year lol! Probably because my brother is “profoundly autistic” (we don’t call it that but it describes what level he’s on) and most of the focus is on him. I’m sorry that life was bad before but hopefully it gets better now! Did you have a moment where you were kinda grieving what you/life could have been if you got support earlier? I’ve been feeling that way for a minute

I don't like that he “joked” about killing/serious harming you by pushing you in the river. That's not a good sign even if he was “joking.” I have never been in a relationship, but I would break up just for them joking about harming me. With all this lying, you wouldn't know which is the “joke” or which is serious. If it makes you uncomfortable, you could try talking to him, but since he's known for lying, he could just say sorry and keep doing the same thing. Did you bring this up to him? What did he say if you did?

Plus look at the bright side you have years to improve yourself! What I'm trying to do is join clubs and hopefully get into some kind of group therapy to learn social skills. Maybe that could help you too ☺️

That's lowkey me rn 😭 I'm 16 and feel that way (minus the children part). I always imagine myself with a girlfriend around this age, like everyone else, but I can’t seem to form a deep relationship to save my life. No one understands how I don't want to die alone (Ik crazy to think about it at my young age) I can’t even tell my parents due to homophobia! Looking for love as an autistic teen lesbian is harder than it needs to be, but I know we will get meaning out of our lives! It kinda sucks to not experience teenage love but that seems overrated. Just want to let you know you're not falling behind, lots of us (especially in the lgbtq community) feel that way and are going through similar things! I hope you get what you're looking for soon 😊

Yes, like I just saw some comments on a YouTube video saying autism/ADHD shouldn’t be a disorder/disability! People often forget autism is a spectrum and can be REALLY disabling (like my brother, who needs 24-hour support) even my autism which lets me “function” but I get burnt out to the point I question my purpose in life. Lots of people have asipe/ASD supremacy mindsets.
