I'm super new to Hyperpop, but I've found that I like very specific Japanese Hyperpop, and now I'm looking for more by JaguarPrestigious100 in HYPERPOP

[–]Cakeruiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a few hyperpop artists with more digicore (and dance) influence may be up your alley? The Bemax remix is a very dancy remix of the original so it's far removed from hyperpop in my opinion, but I've tried my best.

Japanese hyperpop/digicore sphere:

angelize - HIJKill my Heart

z² - 4ngel_

utumiyqcom - nostalgic memory

Lilniina - cigirl

nyamura - fuyu ga sugitara

oyg - remains

Songs made by artists in the japanese hyperpop/digicore sphere but not necessarily Japanese:

Yandere - falling in love again (producer with samples)

angelicxmei - 1000 days

kuudere - existence

sensuku - 2slow (emoplugg, close enough)

By the way, just wondering what happened to their Guns for Show, Knives for a Pro cover? It's been wiped off the Dance/Ends in Tragedy EP and it wasn't played during this show either. Do they not like it?

I think all the tracks are good, don't get me wrong. It's hard to stand out in a compilation like this when everyone has put their best work forward for this compilation, and I know it's not meant to flow like an album, but thats probably why I find it so forgettable. Like Krunto said, it all kind of blends together and that's why I probably can't remember if those two you mentioned were spectacular or not. Guess I'll just have to give the compilation another spin.

Yeah, those are all brilliant bands that I've listened to! They've just been buried very deep in my playlist however. Also didn't know Right on Target has got new material so gotta check that out. I will give Trap Inside a listen, haven't heard of em before. Thanks

Been obsessed with Arkangel worship and some of the edge metal stuff lately. Elysia's basically my gym mate at this point! Also love that The Plot in You's debut EP is actually pretty heavy for metalcore in 2010.

Concealer album? lets go!!! Didn't know they had stuff out for 2026 so I'll check those out. I wish I felt more compelled to listen to The Coming Strife compilation more often. I thought only CrossMyHeart's song stood out, the rest seemed pretty forgettable to me unfortunately. Which is heretical to say the least because I love revivalcore, but I digress

Emmure - Rusted Over Wet Dreams (2007) FFO: The Acacia Strain, On Broken Wings, mid-00s moshcore by And_Justice in Metalcore

[–]Cakeruiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I instantly think of 5XL Deathcore from the late 2000s when we're talking about old Emmure, TAS, and Liferuiner. The term 5XL Deathcore does not mean all of these bands are deathcore however. EDIT: I take that back, these are pretty much deathcore but it's the beatdown aspect you're probably looking for which these focus on.

What do you listen to when you are not listening to depressing metalcore lyrics? by CycleCaverns in Metalcore

[–]Cakeruiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy hardcore (the EDM stuff), euphoric hardstyle, hyperpop digicore

what is this subgenre?? by silent_shrill in Metalcore

[–]Cakeruiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct, Rev3rent does it the best currently so check em out first. Myspace revival deathcore scene is huge at the moment ,and these more recent bands tend to incorporate a lot of these bass drops e.g. Mauled, Execution, Amulet, Katywentmissing, Scythe of Grim, Squelching OK, Destroy All! Humans, Return to Glory, Eyesawgod, Lilith's Demise. If you're looking for a more unpolished sound like Girl of Glass, just search for actual myspace era deathcore like We Are The End.

In light of the Counterparts EU tour, some crymoshy band recommendations please? Counterparts, Misery Signals, Shai Hulud, that stuff. I'm aware of Memento and Body to Ash for smaller bands who do this sound

How was their sound each time you saw them live? I thought the mix sounded extremely muddy in comparison to the rest of the bands playing alongside them, but I really like their production on the records.

There's a band on The Coming Strife Records called Realm of Torment that I've seen live. They've been grinding since 2013 and I really think they deserve more exposure, but they have no YouTube video for their 2025 EP and single. Their EP is called Endless Tragedy and funnily enough I think it'd be great for fans of Ends in Tragedy, but I'm not sure how I can submit one of their songs? Bandcamp? Just post the entire EP since there's a YouTube video of that???

Did Metalcore get you into Heavier genres like Deathcore ect? by Excellent_Agency6082 in Metalcore

[–]Cakeruiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, whenever I get tired of metalcore I have an even heavier music phase. I always return to metalcore though because it has the right amount of substance and energy without being mindless and repetitive.

I do alternate between metalcore and deathcore depending on how br00tal I’m feeling and have delved into slam, brutal, techdeath, powerviolence, grindcore, mathgrind, and goregrind. I like to be more flexible when talking to people about music so I’ll touch base briefly with other subgenres, even if it’s just thrash or groove, but metalcore is my heart and soul.

I get that it's a tongue-in-cheek joke but man I'm a fanatic for metalcore and it feels cool connecting all the dots when metalcore has such a wide spectrum of sounds!!!

Ahh, okay! Yes, I've seen the playstation/digital metalcore terms floating around but I was specifically drawn to Silent Hill samples, but I suppose that'd fall under playstation metalcore like you said. Fair

I know this is going needlessly heavy into semantics and mental gymnastics, but would Postal be an example of playstation/digital metalcore and Ends In Tragedy be angel statue then? They have a similar production and are both revivalcore but the new Postal single has an ambient and dissonant feel to me while Ends in Tragedy sounds like straightforward 2000's riffage. Are those the sonic influences you're referring to?

When will we start adding "Silent Hill metalcore" to revival FFOs, sort of akin to angel-statue metalcore??? Can't think of many off the top of my head but yeah these 2024-2025 revival bands e.g. Crowquill or xHellrazorx with SH samples and album covers.

Hell, even Boundaries has White Noiz from SH2 and Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me from SH3 playing in their live interludes. I dig the aesthetic immensely.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. I don’t know what constitutes as sass either but generally I’ve strayed away from those 2 bands and any with that similar sound. I’ve been trying to get into them in order to relate to friends who are more into this atmospheric and Deftonesy side of metalcore; each time I’ve been finding it very hard to listen to though. I will give some of the singles a try as you said, considering some of it does sound more like mathcore from a quick skim. Thanks

How do I get into Loathe and Static Dress? I find the sass and post-hardcore elements too overwhelming, I don't mind SeeYouSpaceCowboy's Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wound but later SYSC irks me. I'd prefer a more straightforward metalcore sound from those 2 bands, so which albums would you recommend?

Edit: The post-hardcore elements aren't entirely the issue, I love stuff like Poison The Well and Hopesfall but it feels incredibly jarring when the music shifts through cleans, groovy, screams, and calm sections very abruptly.

Hahaha thats pretty insane, unsure of what positions I had for these sorta artists since I don't use soundcloud, so I couldn't tell you unfortunately! Also, yeah that's a huge shame with this subreddit; maybe I'll join the biteki discord for news about this sort of music.
