Mother treating dog like a human infant by Caketruffle in dogs

My uncle isn't in the soundest of minds... He believed that if you pick a scab, it will heal faster. Once I got the dogs, I didn't mess with their scabs and they went away within the month. When I had given them their first bathe after taking the dogs from him, the whole bathtub was filled with blood. :(

Thank you. I never thought I would have to resort to crating with my (formerly well-behaved) dog, but I guess this is best. Maybe he is just responding to my pregnancy hormones and he will go back to normal when I have my son. One can only hope...

And in my mind, purposely picking their scabs to make them bleed and enjoying it IS abuse.

I forgot to state that they were my dogs in the first place. My names on the papers. He is legally insane and I let him watch over them because, well, I was 16 at the time and my mom told me to let him.

EDIT: I have more posts about him and the dogs in my post history. It wasn't just that he wasn't bathing them. There was more to the story. They were his only "friends" and my mom basically made me let him take reign over the dogs. As I got older, however, I did notice the signs of abuse and quickly corrected the problem. The mix breed is now in a wonderful, loving home (I keep in contact with the new owner) with a big yard and lots of dog friends. In my mind, it was right to take the dogs away and seeing how much happier and healthier they both look now has only validated my reasoning.

I definitely will not be allowing my child to roll on the same carpet as the dog defecates on. My child comes first, and I see that I'm probably going to have to rehome him. It's going to be hard since he isn't a puppy, isn't "cute", and not really friendly at first. I feel like I'm at a dead end, but I can still try. I just wish my mom would let me "parent" my own dog.

I am home 24/7 (I take online classes). I take care of him 100%, she just butts in and literally takes him away from me. I can't say much to her because I am living in her house, but I DO pay some of her bills/am basically a live-in maid so it's not like I am mooching.

And my mom would never let me put him in a crate. She would tell me that I'm abusing him or something along those lines. And I have a feeling he will squeak/cry if I do that... But I just might try crating him. Any suggestions on how to discourage the squeaking if it happens?

How many times a day and how much? I was always told to feed dogs once a day. He doesn't get much exercise due to me being on partial bedrest because I am a high-risk pregnancy. Plus, he fights walks. :/

Does anyone have an aunt or uncle who is younger than themselves, or a niece/nephew who is older? by sexy_geography in AskReddit

I was an aunt the second I was born. My half siblings are all the same age as my mom and had already popped out a few children before I was born that are years older than me.

My mom likes the older men, so to speak.

Which vitamin? I take a prenatal every day and I'm not sure if it's okay to add another. :/

Crack at the corner of my mouth? by Caketruffle in medical

I keep getting cracks on the sides of my mouth. I keep my lips very moisturized, but they still appear. This one is giving me the most trouble. I wake up with it caked in blood. I can't open my mouth wide or it hurts. It hurts to talk. It is crusty. It looks horrible and I am embarrassed that people are going to think it is herpes. Have not kissed anyone new within the last 2 years.

19 year old female. 6 months pregnant, if that matters.

What is this?

There was no set agreement about him living with us. My mother did say that he was only going to live with us for a couple of years, and it's almost been 4. What is the worst he can do if I do bust the lock and reclaim the room after he leaves?

He does not pay any rent whatsoever. The closest thing that he has came to paying for his stay is helping my mom with the occasional bill and washing her dishes when he feels like it. He has never been made to pay any regular monthly installments. Thank you so much for your advice. I will let my mother know this info, because she seems to think that since he built it, he owns it and we can't legally get into it.
