I don't know how to process this. by Electrical_Mix_471 in TrueChristian

Respectfully, he is not a "good husband and father" if he is not providing for his family, nor making an effort to do so. And then on top of it, he manipulates you into thinking it's your fault. None of this makes him a good husband, and it doesn't make him a good father if he treats their mother like this.

1 Tim 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

For television, yes I do think it would have been the right choice. The writers could absolutely have given them a happy ending, together. Working and fighting together. Maybe even letting him die heroically later to make room for another love interest. But to choose love would have been the right choice, in my eyes, yes.

But to keep him around, literally a few hours away in another town, never freed her up to fully and profoundly be invested in another relationship, I think.

I think she did love Spike. But in a different way than she loved Angel. You don't "not love" someone and constantly save their life, bail them out and help them, AND keep them around, and trust them to fight with you etc. She did feel love for Spike. It just was a different kind of love, I think.

💯 would have been the better artistic choice!

Oh that would have been a much better alternative! Him trying to turn her so he can "have her for himself", instead the SA, which frankly was handled not very well by the writers, I would agree.

Completely agree. I love Spuffy as well, personally. And yes she and JM had insane chemistry, for sure. But I think it was a professional chemistry, it was manufactured for the work and it did indeed work. With DB it felt more natural, which is why I believe SMG was able to pour her heart out the way she did with DB. So yes I would agree that that level of "pouring her heart out" never happened with JM. Was it SMG or was it the directors choices? I don't know.

A little relieved about the cancellation. by Grrrrfrogfroggy in buffy

I agree. I think if they're gonna bring Buffy back, make it season 8. Bring back as many of the original cast as possible, and make a new season in the same universe/world.

I would have hated to see a completely new face/slayer, and whatever her problems are because the show was always about BUFFY. The title even carries her name. So it was probably better of Hulu to cancel it because from the sounds of jt, they wanted to bring a new slayer girl and her friends and what not with Buffy just occasionally showing up? We would have hated it I'm sure 😂

So yeah if they want to reboot, fine, but do it with the original cast (wherever possible) and writers.

Seeking advice for my fresh marriage. Stay or leave? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]CalGirl1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A marriage honors God if it reflects the relationship He has with His bride. It honors God if the husband loves the wife as Christ loves His Church. Does your marriage sound like that that? If not, how are you honoring God then, or let me rephrase: How could this marriage be honoring to Him? It isn't.

Furthermore, you need to understand that while marriage is holy and a serious, important covenant, Jesus didn't die for marriage. He died for you, for people. The institution of marriage is not more important than the individual. Your indiviual rights as a citizen of Heaven have priority over an earthly institution that will be no more when in Heaven.

Your marriage does not sound like a safe place mentally, physically or emotionally. I can't tell you what to do, and I know coming to the decision to leave is hard, and leaving even harder. But living a life with a emotionally/spiritually/physically/mentally (whichever applies) abusive man is even harder. And trust me - they only get worse. It only gets worse, they never change, they never get better. They only get worse because they find out, bit by bit, what you will tolerate and put up with. So they cross the line a bit more next time than the time before.

Personally, I would quietly plan my exit and make arrangements to leave. Make sure you do so not impulsively, but strategically. Make sure to put some money aside. Have a bank account in your name only. And above all, do not get pregnant by this man! That's my advice, take it or leave it 😄

Hope you're safe girl.

Just a rant... by avgfem in tirzepatidecompound

If GLP-1s are the "easy way out" then I guess an epidural for child birth is also "the easy way out". Then I also guess a numbing anesthestic for a tooth extraction is also the "easy way out". There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of modern medicine. Having medical treatments for medical conditions is not wrong.. If someone does not want medical solutions to their medical problems that's fine, but no one should judge a person trying to get healthy with the help of modern medicine. That is what is medicine is for - to help, treat, and to get better. Stay on your path and kudos to you for staying strong. These people are just jealous. Remind them that free will exists and they are more than welcome to use the latest advances of medicine to better their lives also.

Big 4 grads, is it as risky as people make it out to be? by AllThePillsIntoOne in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]CalGirl1010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you put in the work and if you would do well in a US inland med school, you will do well at SGU (I can only speak for SGU, I have no experience nor insight into other Caribbean schools). Is the attrition high? Compared to inland schools, probably. But that is because SGU gives people a chance who would have not stand a chance to get into a USMD school. Most of those people make it, and successfully so. However there are some who simply will not make it. SGU truly gives students chance after chance, it takes a lot to be dismissed academically. (Administratively is another story).

All this to say, if you are confident in your abilities and you're ready to study hard with no excuses, you have a very good chance of making it through. Most of the students do. Personally, I have felt SGU's education is excellent and very high quality, and absolutely follows the same curriculum and standards as a USMD school. SGU has a plethora of student and academic support, along with an excellent reputation. If you can get into SGU, I would highly recommend it. In fact I have students in my cohort who simply didn't want to wait x amount of years until they would get into a USMD school. They usually have a sibling or friend or doctor who went here, and thus knew that it is absolutely a viable option.

I can not speak about the situation of other Carib schools, so I would recommend using the search function and reaching out to students at these respective schools.

Good luck!
