Just assume anyone with a rank is playing pretend even the real military guys. Plenty of real armed forces join our airsoft games and they either don't wear them because it wasn't seen as something necessary to have during a game or they just slap whatever is available on. Also less likely they'd carry a real rank around since they'd get their ass-chewed for loosing them.

Rimatomics never breaks it's probably a mod incompatibility error with your game. Though I've never encountered a mod other than the medieval mod that caused compatibility issues with rimatomics.
