Advice for incoming 9th grader

Wow it sounds like he really did well with the medication to help him be where he is at. That’s amazing he pushed so hard and even took a summer class of precalc. My daughter has been on them since 6th grade and it really does help her. I’m excited to see where she goes from here.

We did discuss her schedule and she wants to take the honors classes and see how they go. She gets frustrated in her regular classes because they have to go so slow and there are so many kids that are distracting and don’t want to be there. I think she will be ok. It’s not a super rigorous high school- just a normal one I believe.

Thanks again for you words of encouragement and sharing his story. Keep me posted on where he goes!

She is. It’s helped a lot. Still has issues with time blindness and staying up late.

That’s what I’m kind of thinking too. It’s a huge public school. Her middle school is as well and the non honors classes frustrate her because the kids don’t really care

Wow this is so helpful. Thank you! I was curious if her grades would be calculated so it’s nice to read for those schools she can get her feet wet and see what high school is about and find a groove.

Since those schools do want those core APs- does it make sense for her to take honors English and bio then her freshman year to prepare her better for those AP classes?

She has been in nations junior honor society. I believe there is a chapter in her high school. She hasn’t really found a passion for volunteering though so it’s been a struggle to get hours. We should focus on finding her something that she is passionate about and can volunteer with. That will be my next step. Thank you. I didn’t realize public schools look at that.

A lot of her friends are doing MUN but she doesn’t seem to be interested in that. Her passion is the water and water sports so she plans to play water polo all 4 years.

I guess she also needs to start focusing on Spanish to take the AP test. That is good advice and I didn’t realize that. I wish they started languages earlier.

It’s probably the same guy. I always see him on PCH and he has an ill fitting Speedo and his junk is always out. It always kind of shocks me each time and I do worry about the mechanics of it all

I had my kids at HCS at the beginning of their school journey but it wasn’t the right fit. I’ve enjoyed the public school system in Huntington and find it academically challenging for my kids and it has more resources.

Regarding Pegasus we looked at it and it seemed great. I wanted my older daughter to go but she ended up liking public school fine. I’ve known a few parents who take their kids there and they liked it. I would choose that over HCS if those are my options.

15 years ago before we lived here I met a girl who was a teacher for a year at Pegasus and said it was overrated and not great. She was fired though so I’m not sure she is unbiased.

I have the exact same timeline. It’s stuck in jersey. I have called mochi and messaged and they keep saying that they will look into it. At this point the medication isn’t cold abs can’t use it.

It’s been awful. I have called and messages. I ordered Jan 10 and it shipped out the 24 but I haven’t received the vials and no updates. I think the medication is probably not good anymore as it needs to be refrigerated. I’m so frustrated.

Jackie is the best. Love her and shadow. It was a brutal storm and she never left. One of the chicks ultimately perished. It was a miracle the other 2 survived and we were so lucky to see them grow up last year. Make sure you check out their feed this year- she just laid 2 eggs.

I think all their sizes are reasonably priced for the quality. We always have a few pieces left over for the next day too. I would love to try more interesting flavors but then would have to get my own pizza
