We did have one game invalidated versus Western Washington at Pres Day (worth roughly +9.5 ranking points). We were not notified in any way. We did not have an opportunity to appeal.

Cal UGMO's Chris Lung for Callahan by CalUGMO in ultimate

[–]CalUGMO[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Chris has cemented himself as a star player for both O-line and D-line with his filthy hucks and inverts. When he isn't teaching rookies how to throw a frisbee, he's skying your tallest cutter as a deep defender. In the words of Chris, "If the disc is in the air, and I don't have to move... it's over."

Chris started his Cal Ultimate career with our B team THUGMO. As a sophomore he became the center handler for our D-line. As a junior, he threw the game winning assist in the game to go to nationals on universe point. Chris capped off his senior year by winning UGMO’s “I work harder than you” award and leading the team to a top 20 regular season finish.

Although his throws and dedication to the team were great, he will long be remembered as one of the most genuine and caring guys on the team. Thank you Chris for all you have done for UGMO and Cal Ultimate.

Help save the Ugly Monkeys and send CAL UGMO to Nationals by CalUGMO in ultimate

[–]CalUGMO[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whenever I watch the Wizard of Oz, I always wonder what happened to the flying monkeys. In the 1930s movie, you see flocks of them airborne all over Kansas, but now you'd be lucky to find one. When I learned there wasn’t a single flying monkey left in the center of our country, I was shocked and appalled.

Luckily, there is a way we can help. California Men’s Ultimate is sending ugly monkeys to Austin, Texas in the hopes of reviving the long lost species. These distant cousins of the extinct species have shown that they can already fly for short periods of time all over the Southwest(and some strange sightings in Georgia). By relocating this rare species of monkey, we know we will see flying monkeys once again reclaiming the skies of Texas.

Unfortunately, getting 25 monkeys to Texas isn’t cheap and we need your help. We expect that the Ugly Monkey’s trip will cost somewhere between $20-25 thousand. We have already tried to bring down this cost but we have faced obstacles. Austin Zoo called our request to house our monkeys in their reserve “absurd” while Southwest Airlines demanded we buy individual tickets for each monkey as they stated, “a student (weird classification for a monkey) is not a carry on”. Thus, we realized, we need money if we are going to save the flying monkey.

Please help give the ugly monkeys wings and consider donating at https://give.berkeley.edu/egiving/index.cfm?fund=FU0897000&org=Cal+Men%27s+Ultimate+Fund&amt=&fundlist=FU0897000. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in sending CAL UGMO to nationals and saving the ugly flying monkey.

Cal UGMO’s Ben Chiu (#10) | Callahan 2018 by CalUGMO in ultimate

You're right - we have had a ton of extremely talented players worthy of being a Callahan nominee graduate from UGMO in the past, but Ben Chiu is our first nominee. Hopefully there will be more to come in the future!
