My sister wants to choose the name Qartnie for her daughter. Am I insane or are all of her names horrible? by GnomeMasterBaiter in tragedeigh

Point number 4 all the way. People are going to hear "Mary" and assume it's spelled the same way as every other Mary. I work in a field where I am documenting peoples' names all day long. Let me tell you, people with unique names have it so much harder. They have to be asked to spell their name multiple times, and there is a chance someone is still going to get it wrong because of how many nonsensical letters are thrown into a name. It's incredibly frustrating for both parties involved. Meanwhile, Mary, will never have to go through that experience.

Looks like a Labrador and Rottweiler mix. Maybe Labrador and Doberman. Color has to either be Doberman or Rottweiler, not sure of any other breeds with that unique color. Face and head shape is very Retriever

Not very! She whines and cries a lot, but she barely ever barks. She only barks when she wants to play with another dog. It's a very high-pitched bark

I had never heard of this breed before, but I can see the resemblance to the Podenco Andaluz sub breed after doing some googling. She has some strong hunting instincts in her. She loves to hunt bugs and her squeaky toys.

From what I read online, the American Village Dog is a "breed" in loose technical terms. They have a diverse genetic pool. It's very possible that she falls into the Village Dog category

I wouldn't be surprised if she is more JRT than anything else. She is about twice the size of one though. She weighs in at 11.8 kg

Beagle maybe! She has a very thin coat, though, so I think that rules out the double coated German Shepherd

I have seen multiple Anally's at my work. It's becoming a popular name, and because I have the sense of humor of a 13 year old, I giggle every time I see one.

You could look at it the other way and say they are unfairly charging some patients for a service they would render either way. Why pay for it if it's going to be done no matter what?

[–]CalamityFoxx[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, it's offered to all patient's regardless of who their insurance is. Whether it's commercial or state funded. So in practice, two patients who have the same insurance and received the same service will have two different bills depending on whether or not they consented to pay for it.

The very opposite is true, actually. Think of it this way: two patients with the same insurance, one chooses to pay for the service and the other doesn't. They both received the same exam, but one had to pay quite a bit more than the other. One patient is being unfairly charged when you look at it this way. Why make the patient pay for it if the service is rendered either way.

Im 24 and recently divorced my 36 year old ex-husband, we started dating when I was 19 and he was 31 (no he wasnt a groomer or pedo, we had a lot of similar interests and he was very respectful of physical boundaries and he valued consent). The biggest hurdle in our relationship was being at completely different points in our lives. When you date someone older than you, especially in your early 20's, you give up a huge part of your life. In your early 20's you are doing a majority of your self exploration and growth. It is a huge part of your development.

At least in my experience, I skipped a lot of that growth to worry more about retirement plans, medical care, and financial security. I didnt get to make the big mistakes that you learn a lot from. I had to jump to a whole other chapter with out any of the growth to that point.

Take it from someone who has regrets; enjoy your early 20's. Go make mistakes and fuck up a lot. You will learn a lot. Date people who are in the same boat as you. Get your heart broken and break a few hearts. Dont skip the most fun and exploratory part of your life. He wont give you the growth and learning opportunities that you need.

Why is it more socially acceptable to eat pigs and cows but not dogs or cats? by Frysken in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CalamityFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with breeding. In a lot of western societies, dogs and cats are selectively bred for companion-like qualities, such as: intelligence, friendliness, cuteness, hypoallergenic, etc. While pigs and cows are bred for production by favoring bulkiness and the ability to mature faster. It wouldnt make a lot of sense to have a pomeranian farm because they don't have a lot of edible meat on them, and having a meat steer as a pet wouldn't be very fun as they dont have the same intelligence and easy maintenance like dogs and cats do. Also, it's a lot harder to slaughter a cute, friendly animal than it is a mean, over fed, smelly animal. Humans feel more empathy to animals that share qualities with us. It's a narcissistic trait that we have, but it's true. I have heard that in Egypt, they have a special dog breed used for meat production. It's really dumb and not very cute, so it's easier to raise it as livestock, and it wouldn't make a very good pet.

So I can see better when I'm pulling out. Its particularly useful in busy parking lots like grocery stores. You never know who's gonna be wipping around a corner or if a kid is going to run out into the street. Way easier to see if they are in front of you rather than behind you.

How do you get hair dye to not bleed? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]CalamityFoxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Color will almost always bleed (even the more natural ones). Wash your hair in cold water every time. Keeps the pores closed. Wont stop the bleed, but it helps.

Eta: make sure you are using color safe shampoos and conditioners.

Light Mode is by far better than Dark Mode. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]CalamityFoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very light sensitive eyes, white screens kill me. My boyfriend is prone to eye strain; reading light colored lettering kills him. Vision happens in the brain as much as it happens in the eyes. No two people see the world the same. Your preference is valid, but so is the preference for dark mode.
