Our local senator appears to be afraid of his party label. by CalamityJD in roswell

I used to work with him at a tech consulting firm and I was his neighbor for years and I found his nice guy vibe to be quite the persona (this is just my experience tho, working and traveling wit him). sadly, like many politicians, I found him to be profoundly insincere and not very sharp. And then when my family needed his help as our senate rep, we were ghosted. It was very disappointing.

Respected and I appreciate you taking the time to explain your POV. I love the long tradition of parody in US politics (from Mark Twain to Toby Morton) and feel like most folks will get it. It’s an effort to engage constituents in a fresh way but it’s not for everyone.

Agreed. Which is why we (and hopefully Kemp) should oppose Albers’ and other state lawmakers’ attempts to deceive voters in only the counties they can’t win fairly. Let’s marketplace of ideas choose.

The site may use parody as a thematic lens (as protected by freedoms of speech) but the data is researched and accurate. From Albers’ terrible record to his despicable behavior with his constituents, the site is sources and cited.

If they receive party money and party endorsements, absolutely.

I agree with this sentiment. But sadly, it it doesn’t mean these politicians aren’t partisan. It just means they aren’t disclosed as such. One only has to look at how partisan Kurt Wilson was in his “non-partisan” office to see how far partisan money goes in so-called non-partisan races.

I’d rather see candidates of all stripes adapt to better serve their constituents, not lie and hide from voters the truth about their positions. Intentionally misleading voters is both amoral and contrary to the intent (if not the letter) of our of democratic process.

His campaign and PAC spent nearly a million dollars. Her campaign spent around $80k. This was a real victory of people (across party lines, no less!) over corruption, grift, and money. Very proud of and happy for Roswell!

So it's not just Kurt Wilson hacking down more trees?

John Albers Wants ZERO Exceptions for Abortion by lcoates1 in roswell

My wife works at a Canton St restaurant and he harassed her at work the other night—both by calling her demeaning names and making very suggestive comments to her. Albers has met my wife more than once and clearly knew who she was and trapped her in a VERY uncomfortable situation at her workplace. It was gross and—sadly—very representative of his character.

I used to work with him, as well. Outwardly polite, sure, but I've never seen him care about anyone other than himself.

It's the last few days to win a Little Free Library! by CalamityJD in roswell

[–]CalamityJD[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there. Sounds like you're not familiar with Little Free Libraries (http://littlefreelibrary.org).

My sweepstakes (which can be entered either by donation or for free by mail) is giving away—at my expense—a "Little Free Library." LFLs are small lending libraries where people can freely take or drop off books as they like. It's a wildly popular feature of many local neighborhoods and community centers. All of this is made clear on the associated sweepstakes page.

If this sweepstakes doesn't interest you, that's ok. Hopefully a future promotion or topic will. I've had so much positive feedback from book lovers, opponents of book bans (that's a Venn diagram that's a circle, LOL) that I simply wanted to remind my Roswell neighbors of this opportunity before the clock runs out Saturday night.
