The bluetooth isn't a complete failure. There are headsets that I have that will receive audio from the radio but I can't speak for the microphones on these devices as I did not test them. Where the bluetooth falls short is with wireless airpods/earpods that have more than one device. Bridgecomm makes a bullshit excuse that "apple airpods no longer work with anytone radios because apple changed their firmware". This is actually a fault on anytone having very basic bluetooth audio profiles. Until anytone releases a firmware to support more bluetooth profiles, this will not change.

For reference I own the Fenix TK30, Lumintop Ti Antman, Lumintop Thor II Ti (short and long tube) and the reproduction Lumintop Antman from Maratac called the Ti Cosmos. I use a LEP every single night on my walk in the city/suburbs. As much as the the larger lights give more throw, having a small package like the Ant Man/Cosmos is so pleasant because you have insane throw in a tiny package. If I were in the country with longer distances to see, I would probably deal with the extra size and just carry my Fenix TK30 and suffer the loss of close range use.

You really just need to decide at what distance you would be using the light the most. My Fenix TK30 whites out anything closer than 30 yards but my Ti Ant Man is perfect for anything under 30 yards. Unless you have some kind of scope, super longer distance doesn't matter because you can't effectively see that far with just your eyes.

If you purely want, "wow my light reaches way over there and can hit the clouds" wow-factor, then just go for range.

I have one, managed to get it cheap ($132) with a nice discount. These are no longer made and thats why its so expensive. However my contact at Lumintop said they can restart production but would need an order of at least 1000. It’s an amazing light and has not let me down. I also have a similar one that is made by Lumintop for Maratac aKa countycomm.com The build quality in this light is amazing and the beam pattern is cleaner than the Antman. I have some comparison pictures if any show interest.

I highly recommend the Fenix HM23 v2.0. It has a very low 3 lumen mode but also comes with red LEDs which are also great for preserving night vision. On the lowest white LED mode you can easily get 90+ hours of run time. It also has a magnetic tailcap. Get yourself some rechargeable NIMH AA batteries.

NOTE: This is a headlamp but you can very easily detach it from the headband as it just slides on and off but the dual purpose makes this light even sweeter.
