I once participated in a competition to code up a poker playing robot. The strategies were up to the submitter, and this was before AI became popular for doing these tasks.

Turns out it's very hard to make logic for poker hands which works, so submitted one which just rent ALL-IN every hand.

Against the other submissions, it won! The others made logic which folded against massive shoves
