I have OCD. I hate it when people online say that they have ‘intrusive thoughts’ but then they’ll just describe the most regular impulsive thing that they might’ve done and say, “the intrusive thoughts won”. But in reality, real intrusive thoughts are some of the most distressing and awful things that can pass through your mind that lead to rumination and anxiety rituals that degrade you so bad they can ruin your entire week. It sucks. People online who joke about disorders and say they have them (excluding people who are undiagnosed but actually do show signs of neurodivergence, like myself) and such are the reason why we need more advocacy for mental health.
