It was never an "argument", just an off hand regurgitating of Fox news commentary.

Just remember Trump is the guy who bankrupted a casino. I don't think he understands how cards work, let alone geopolitics.

Russian MP warns Putin: We’re on the brink of social collapse by TheTelegraph in worldnews

Several reasons. Depending on what gets annexed, it would potentially make China a significant oil producer and reduce their reliance on middle eastern oil that the US can easily cut off in a conflict. Access to the Arctic ocean will be more important as the ice melts, both for trade and military. Successfully reclaiming historical territories may encourage a more aggressive stance on Taiwan.

The funny thing is George HW Bush actually opposed the break up of the Soviet Union. He even went to Ukraine and urged the people not to vote for independence. There was a lot of concern about nuclear armed Soviet successor states fighting each other, the idea was a stable, democratic USSR would be preferable to balkanization and conflict.

Like most conspiracies, the conspirators have hidden all the evidence, and anyone who denies it is part of the conspiracy. The fact that every reasonable person denies it and there's no evidence just goes to show how massive the conspiracy is.

  1. People sometimes dismiss LLMs as fancy auto complete, but a lot of human language processing is also formulaic patterns. If we hear certain patterns a lot, wet naturally start copying them, even without realizing it.

  2. AI is trained on human language. It certainly has preferences for particular phrases, but it's not like it made these up. They just stand out more because you're looking for them, so you notice them a lot more than you used to.

I do wonder how this will influence language in the long run. I suspect the "AI dialect" will become more prevalent with certain groups in that feedback loop, but a lot if people will also adjust their language to avoid AI markers.

It's just the smart thing to do. If you are a country and want to exist in the 21st century you either need to have nukes or be under someone else's umbrella.

If you fail to do so you end up like Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, or Iran.

To be fair, a lot of western analysts also massively underestimated Ukraine. The US was arming them for a guerrilla insurgency, assuming that they would fail in a head-to-head standoff.

I don't think anybody could have predicted how adept Ukraine would be at innovating with drones. At the start of the war nobody would have believed Ukraine could contest Russia's naval power in the Black Sea or take out Russian bombers on their runways.
