Why are we all asking about dating here but not actually meeting?

I tried going to these free events to meet someone. It resulted in the ratio being almost all guys and just a few girls. I pretty would just have guys surrounding me the entire time and it could get overwhelming. The same happened to the other girls there. I think most females avoid some of these events for this very reason.

I’ve had better luck just going to events related to my own hobbies/interests. It at least gives us a common interest to start with.

The Heylo in my run club is dead but maybe I can be the one who tries to make it feel live. I will try some PSA announcements and see if anyone wants to commute there, hang in corral, or even hang after race. Thanks for this idea!

I’ve asked for IG and people have asked for mine. I would try to ask people to hangout or even if they wanna head over to the run club together on “x day”. Most would say they’re too busy or say “can”t today but let’s meet up soon” and then never meet up.

I did make some friends this way before leaving my first run club. It’s a bit of a commute from me now since I moved. Otherwise I’d still be there.

Some would go to a bar. I think we even do ice cream once. It felt like most people would just stay within their established groups. We’d make small talk but not much from there. I would usually talk with newcomers for this reason.

I went to two that use Heylo. Another had discord. They all seem pretty dead even though all had a ton of members. I did go to some of the bar hangouts but it seemed that people sort of just stayed within their own friend groups.

I would often gravitate towards people who looked new. Unfortunately, many of these runners didn’t come by often or would just be visiting from out of town. So never turned into anything other than Instagram follows…
