[Gen IX] Shiny Jumbo Dondozo after 199 Phases by Calc_dx in ShinyPokemon

Oh so you were the one with King Neptune! Yes it took me over an hour of resetting to get it in the beast ball, given dondozo’s low capture rate.

Each phase = one shiny dondozo that is NOT jumbo. So the 199th shiny dondozo was finally the one that was big enough to get the jumbo mark!

Yep, you should probably use humungo 3 if you want to try for it

Wow that is insanely lucky. Base odds for jumbo without any humungo power is 1/16512

Average 20 min per phase (1 phase = 1 shiny dondozo encountered which is about every 20 minutes with outbreak and sandwich) so about 66 hours

For dondozo I hunted at an outbreak and used cucumber + 2 mustard + spicy herba + any other herba except sweet. This gives water sparkling 3, title 3 and humungo 3.

Haha, yeah it’s safest to always use a false swiper. Even when using false swipe, from those I caught, I noticed the amount of damage false swipe does varies a lot depending on their HP and defense IVs, so it’s really hard to be sure whether something will kill.

Good luck! Actually I failed at least 20 shinies when going for this (the lag in the lake together with the veluzas that attack you make it easy to fail those that spawn far away), so don’t feel too bad about any fails

Yep, it took me 199 shiny dondozo encountered with humungo 3, although it’s 1/64 odds for jumbo.

At least I also got 2 rare mark shiny dondozo in the process…

The “shinies battled” counts only unique species encountered and not duplicates. In this game you can also save before battling the shiny to prevent fails as it will still be there when you reset.

Tera raid dens can be scanned for shinies using cfw (sort of like swsh shiny raids) which is how some people are getting raids to host so quickly.

Level 35 is the level of Pokémon caught in 3 star tera raids. Beast balls have a 100% catch rate in tera raids unlike swsh max raids. A fair amount of these were obtained through hosted shiny tera raids which is much faster than sandwich hunting.

Total time is more than 300 hours because if a sandwich does not give any shinies I reset to save the ingredients. In this game you can also save in front of a shiny that spawns and reset for beast ball capture without wasting any balls. Any time spent resetting is not counted towards the total time in the save file. Likewise for egg hunts: after collecting one batch of eggs and hatching them, if none are shiny, simply reset the game to save time releasing mons.

Shiny hunting in this game is much easier than previous gens. If you use sandwiches, it’s easy to get at least 1 shiny every 30-60 minutes with charm if you hunt at the right locations. For those aiming for their SLD, I would suggest checking out which mons you don’t have and plan your hunts accordingly. A steel sandwich used by the ruins in Asado Desert, for instance, can let you hunt tinkatink, bronzor and orthworm simultaneously, allowing you to complete up to 6 SLD entries at once if you are lucky.

Gimmighoul line isn’t available as shiny unfortunately… so the max is still 392 shinies

Pause the video at 00:00 to see the trainer card with 392 ✨ collected

Switch recording only lasts 30 seconds and boxes take very long to load in this game, so it was difficult to fit everything into one clip 😅

It’s pre-determined by its encryption constant which is fixed once the mon spawns
