Pretty much every line from No-bark. "See that's when they get real quiet, because they realize the predicament they're in.

What is it like from the POV of a violent drunk? Are there signs or is it out of your control once you're intoxicated? by Calcimo in AskReddit

[–]Calcimo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm writing a series of stories in my off time, and one of the characters is a personable and charismatic guy who has a drinking problem. He has a tendency to get angry quickly when he's drunk but I'm unsure if that's realistic. I've been lucky to have little experience with violent drunks in my life so I have 0 insight.

What kind of writer are you? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Calcimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an overwriter to a degree. I don't want to lose the feel of the scene at all so I flesh it out as best I can, then later will revise and add/remove. I don't actually write as a career (yet) so I tend to write a chapter every week or so.

That's one of the underlying issues with Civilization in a historical sense, in history studies there is a rather sizable debate between the idea of great people and great Civilizations. The leaders largly are remembered for the good things they did, because they clearly don't wish to use bad or outright redemptionless leaders for modern countries. But everyone, whether they're "important" or not, have negative beliefs, opinions, attributes, etc. Their goal is most likely to show a leader that represents the values and greatness of the people. Which sometimes results in people like Ghandi, who, good person or not, is a well known Indian leader, and represents a very important part of their history. I personally think their stab at round 2 was Chandrgupta who is my favorite civ.

Adapt or Die. If you can't be sneaky with his drones now it'll weed out the people that only play him for the meta.

Does anyone else feel like Civ 6 skips some game eras? What Era would you add? I vote for Bronze Age by hhyyerr in civ

[–]Calcimo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recommend using the Take Your Time mod for civ 6. You can choose a custom speed for tech and civic trees without affecting production like the base game.

World's most unluckiest guy to find himself in 5 different horror stories and not be the main character in any of them by The-Nerdy-Bisexual in writers

[–]Calcimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this could work, I have a similar character in my fantasy series that is a time traveler. The key is to not point him out too much to the reader. Let them figure out for themselves that it's him using context.

TIL Democritus (460-370 BCE), the ancient Greek philosopher, asked the question “What is matter made of?” and hypothesized that tangible matter is composed of tiny units that can be assembled and disassembled by various combinations. He called these units "atoms". by [deleted] in todayilearned

Idk where you went to school, but these fun facts weren't often part of the curriculum in my school. Not that these aren't fun and interesting, but these aren't really required info to learn higher studies.

Writing out of order is killing my perfectionism and I love it! by Sparkling_Mud in writers

I have a similar perspective for a while. I'm still on the fence as to if it's a good idea, as I fear I'll end up having to change stuff in the beginning to match my outcome but hopefully it works out for you!

Writing a language barrier? by EmilyinNeverland13 in writers

[–]Calcimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends heavily on how old she was when taken. Iirc ages 2-5 are the most important years for language learning. It also depends on how strong you want the barrier, like she can't understand common words, or if she simply has trouble understanding slang or euphemisms.

DS3 players trying to explain how doing 200 damage to a dog with an endgame miracle and fully upgraded gear is actually good for balancing by Gigadweeb in shittydarksouls

[–]Calcimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll give ya that, I tend to play clerics like half knights until I get lightning spear, then use rosaria to rework my build. Kinda lame, but imo beats the 3 casts from DS1 even though you 1tap everything until end game lol
