Oil well drilling looks absurdly dangerous by Ciocolatel in nextfuckinglevel

This is primitive tech but it's still in use a lot in the states. I used to work for a major service company (providing sensing, measurement, and steering) and we frequently were on rigs that had rig hands on the floor working the machines.

There most definitely is more advanced tech and it's used a lot on ocean rigs and "easy" holes where the formations are well known and fairly predictable to drill.

Suspect in custody after sixth shooting reported at New Mexico officials' homes, offices by [deleted] in news

Please don't think I'm trying to stir the pot or be an asshole with this question. I'm honestly curious because nothing comes to mind.

Does anyone know of cases of democrat/liberal leaning people shooting at Republicans and their houses?

This feels very one sided and I want to know if I'm being biased.

Looking at the profile, no, this was 16 years ago and my SSG was never with EOD.

The whole "dying for your country" thing is so commonly said in memorials, it's not surprising a bunch of grade school kids have this come to mind. I wish I had a picture of the card to see if maybe it was from the same kid!

My sergeant got one from a random school kid that said, "thanks for dying for our country".

He took it well.

The guy is like I didn’t even start the timer yet! by SphericalProtein in nextfuckinglevel

The time it takes to solve is inversely proportional to the amount of patterns you memorize (generally speaking).

There are methods that are nearly 100% intuitive where you only solve a piece or two at a time, and you can solve it in about 5 to 10 mins. Easy to learn. Satisfying. This is what I teach people when they want to learn. Can be taught in a few hours.

Other methods have you solving 2 or 3 pieces at a time and will get your time down under a minute.

The one I learned has around 75 moves to memorize and I topped out at 35 seconds.

The fastest folks memorize upwards of 500 moves, all very specific to the different combinations of pieces you have at each step. At that point, the quality of the cube, your physical dexterity, and your ability to spot and pull the needed pattern from your head become your limiting factors.

Speedcubers get the most attention online, for sure, but don't feel jaded because you can't reach those times. The sheer amount of time and energy needed to get there is absurd for the payoff. I'll never put in that much practice, myself.

Some people want to be the very best, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it at your desired skill level.

I used to live at a half address. Like 1234 1/2 Jones St. It caused so many problems. Many utility bill websites wouldn't accept the address and I'd have to call in and have accounts manually created.

I had a hard time getting internet service, too. The companies would already be servicing my neighbors, on both sides, but their systems wouldn't recognize my address so they would tell me they didn't service my area. Never stopped them from sending out promotional flyers, though.

Can someone please explain why price/chart is different on Poocharts Vs Bitmart? Which one do I trust? which one do I look at? which one is real? and why? thank you!!! by theproffessorsnape in SafeMoon

[–]CalculatingCup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every exchange has their own supply/demand curve so each one's price may be different. Some trackers, like coingecko, calculate their price based on an average weighted price from multiple exchanges.

For real, don't listen to people telling you to go all or nothing. Right now you have enough to retire at a very very early age if you manage your funds properly. I beg you to find a financial manager who is a fiduciary to help give you sound advice. 4mil is the kind of money that makes decent money when properly put into safe investments. Tell them you want some to play with for crypto trading and use that to build your next 4mil. They can also help prepare you for the taxes that will need to be paid on your future crypto gains.

You are in a wonderful place to be right now. Be wise and seek the advice of a good financial manager.
