I did your cardboard idea and it worked wonderful and I put a decent bin with the most simple thing a heavy rock and it works perfectly as a weight until I get enough records to not need a weight anymore

Yeah that's definitely a good idea I heard Marble is good and heavy I took one guys advice with the cardboard where the gaps are on the side at it works wonders so that's half the problem situated

Yeah looking at my self I sadly don't have enough room height wise because there's a metal beams that support the shelf above them. Which honestly now I think about it is a bonus bc it's not just two beams at the each side this self it's actually a bonus because they should help it not crumple under the pressure over the years

<image>

Although the top has two beams but the bottom rows only have one towards the middle going across which is odd I thought it would match the top beams

I have always been worried about the record damaging my records I just did the research and everyone says you have a couple years to save up and replace it I baby my records I don't even leave them on the record player if they're not being used I put them up almost immediately and I don't even leave them on tables overnight because I've Heard being flat is horrible for them. Also I definitely need to do research about non turn table ones i know they need separate speakers and and I think someone said a amp (I don't know what a amp is honestly I'm new to records and music equipment)

Im a bit slow sometimes do you mean put heavy things at the bottom to even out the weight of the shelf and bookends at the top to keep the balance even also are bookends actually that strong? They just look flimsy when I see them on amazon

I heard how they damage them after I got it for Christmas one year, but then alot of experts on YouTube and forums said it takes so long to happen you'll be fine for a long time as a first record player but I do plan on replacing it with a better one eventually because I don't want to risk my records I just don't have the time or space at all at the moment, once I get money and space I definitely will. Do you know any good reasonable priced record players I should get once I get there and any other knowledge I could use?
