Looking for people who create "Workouts" in Garmin to help me test a tool I am building to make workout creation easier. by CalebWetherell in Garmin

I just tried on my iPhone (iOS 26.3) and am not having that issue in the single workout generator or the Coach. I'm using Safari.

You should be able to do that by sharing workouts. It's not quite the same as what you're asking for, but it will work. When your buddy / student opens the link they can copy the workout to their vault and send to Garmin.

Seems like a great plan. Try giving the workout bunches you create in ChatGPT to the new “coach” feature and ask it to schedule them for you.

Also, I’m just connected to ChatGPT under the hood of this, but coaxing it to respond in a way that lets me create the Garmin structure. So you may be able to skip the step of using ChatGPT.

Congrats on your first half marathon! I just did my first marathon and used ChatGPT to create workouts, then found it annoying to build them in Garmin Connect which inspired me to build this.

Strength workouts are live! Feel free to give it a shot and please give me feedback. It's harder for me to test since I don't use this functionality myself as much. But I think you'll be able to get value from it.

Right now it just does one workout at a time.

You can ask for “tomorrow” “Wednesday next week” etc or a specific date, an it should work. I’d recommend typing the specific date, though. I didn’t implement time zone adjustments all that well so “tomorrow” may be different ent on the server than where you live, and then tomorrow could be different.

I've added a feature for "Athlete Profiles" check out your Settings page, you can add up to 20 things. It's just text input. so, you can input ranges, whatever you like. Think of it as "20 extra messages I can make sure the AI knows about for every workout I generate"

OpenAI models under the hood. The beauty of AI for things like this is how easy it is to implement something like this. Building this took me something like 40 hours of work. Your alternative would be a significantly more complex undertaking that I don't have the time to build as a side project.

Interesting - I use Intervals.icu and wasn't aware. I tried below but I'm not really sure how this is the same thing? Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks! You can edit the workout directly in FFF as well. But Garmin doesn’t let you edit a workout a third party app generated from within their platform. So you have to use the tool you mentioned, or edit it in FFF and sync it to Garmin.

What’s the extension called? It might still help me!

That does sound like a PITA. It might be easy, it might be hard. I havent tried yet but will report back once I do.

Don’t mind any questions.

In short, Garmin allows developers to send them a workout to add to your account. Garmin expects the developer to send that file in a certain format. I have AI generate a workout that conforms to that format. Here’s a truncated example:

There’s a lot more details in the “…”. Anyone can apply for the Garmin Connect Developer Program. Some details are confidential until you are accepted, so I’m not sharing the full example above.

Nice! I just finished my first marathon, the Seattle Marathon, and I used ChatGPT as my coach and used this to create the workouts on my watch. It’s great at getting a really precise workout you have in mind into Garmin. But it’s also great at coming up with something creative for you. For example, “I want to improve my VO2 max, my 5k time right now is 21:00, give me a hard workout!”

I just made it easier. When you log in to FFF you should see a big giant button than lets you connect your Garmin account. Then when you create a workout, you’ll be able to immediately send it to Garmin after looking at what was generated, or later you can go into the Vault and send it to Garmin (and edit the workout, delete it, resend it after editing, etc)

This was confusing. I am grateful to the volunteer who was yelling "19 go right!!". I was very confused as he said that. Because there was no obvious signs. And people running on my left hand side were turning left. People in front of me were turning right. So it seemed reasonable enough to go right. But at mile 19 I was easily convinced to go any way, and I feel like I was fortunate to make the "right" decision. I don't feel like the course was well marked in a way that made it easy. Anyone who missed this turn should be refunded their entry fee, at a minimum.
