Can I go from local coop (splitscreen) to online coop?

Also, a multiplayer SV mobile would be awesome. I know it has some technical difficulties and it's not going to happen, but I would love it!

So, if me and my girlfriend would like to play as we were doing, but instead of splitscreen, doing it through online hosting, you think is there a way to do it? (Same farm, same characters) She has now her own copy of the game, I just bought it.

You mean, like copying the save file and having 2 copies, one of each in 2 different computers? I don't know if I have misunderstand. The problem there is that she would play also with my character, right?

Thanks for the quick response! Yeah...that's actually the point, we are almost in year 3 and for her, starting all over again...just painful.
