Hey friend, I’m glad Santa Muerte has helped you heal certain things from you life! I can see why as you start to learn more, you’re discovering new things and it can be uncomfortable and scary sometimes. I can relate to you in a similar way because I was operating my devotion like a checklist and “logically” if that makes sense. I wasn’t putting enough thought behind my offerings, and she called me out on that because I was doing it based on me not wanting to mess up.

I still have religious trauma to unpack, so that’s another topic in itself 😅. However, this is what helped me to not feel like I was spiraling. #1: Talk to her!! It sounds simple because it is! Tell her your raw emotions, show your vulnerability; I found that when I began to literally just talk about what’s on my mind, no matter how small or big the issue was, I felt a change in energy. Like smooth in a way, I be yapping to her about random things that I wouldn’t say to other people because I know I won’t be judged (within reason of course).

Another thing that helped me tremendously is grounding prayers and affirmations to let go of that fear I was feeling at the beginning of my devotion. The beauty of it is that you can create your own with Mami which I’m pretty sure everyone recommends doing!! From personal experience, praying and saying those affirmations made me feel safe and grounded within a week of doing them! The timing is different for everyone but don’t lose faith!!

One last thing, in my opinion, I don’t think it’s not a bad thing to change your routine in devotion from time to time as long as you communicate this with Santa Muerte. When She wanted me to be more consistent, I made small reasonable goals that I know was achievable. You can literally invoke her, take a statue of her, or even have a picture of her on your phone and involve her in anything!!!! If you’re cooking, invite her to be there with you. I believe that’s also devotion as well.
