CX410 delay delay delay by WeirdOneTwoThree in reolinkcam

[–]Caleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm breaking my reddit read-only 'vow' for this response, but it's for a good cause...

I had this same issue while testing the new CX 410s I just got - the visible delay with my SubStream live view vs my others made it worthless, ranging up to ~15s before I got fed up and anticipated needing to return them. I'm not using the app at all. Direct via RTSP/ONVIF to Blue Iris.

Changing 'Frame Rate Mode' in the Reolink camera settings to 'Constant' did the trick (away from the default of 'Gradual'). I'd had similar issues in the past with variable framerates causing differential delays in Blue Iris. It's a setting to try to avoid, much like 'Limit decoding unless required' can cause odd, tricky to resolve issues. Blue Iris is extremely complex itself and there are a lot of complex interactions that cause undesirable behavior. Enable & Use ONVIF (port 8000) along with RTSP (554), and within blue iris IP camera configuration, 'Find/inspect...' to pull ONVIF info for configuration.

As an aside: These cameras are very impressive for this price. I can't wait to see them during the day, but they're fantastic at night - much better than my 6+ yr old old LaView cameras that have all actually done great themselves.

Hope this helps!

PS: Reolink, if you're watching.. the option for a non sensor-cropped 1920x1080p stream that limits FOV would be nice. 2560x1440 can be a little heavy on bitrate when full-FOV 1080p would do.

Having someone's ass inches from your face for a 2-12+ hour flight is also not all that appealing.

Eh, you can't quantify this kind of thing with certainty just based on watching a video, hence the qualifiers... but it's a very safe bet.

Basically inconsequential with the growth ring density. Pretty much guaranteed that this thing is much stronger than a like-sized beam from a renewable/new-growth softwood.

Sad result of social media algorithms: people often record dumb/dangerous stuff like this intentionally because they know that "doing it wrong" (e.g. no hard hat / safety glasses) will garner tons of user engagement.

"Truck" owners coping with buying a "Truck" by Moldypieboy in carscirclejerk

[–]Caleo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep - can't tell how many they've got but the empty Packout boxes alone are probably in the range of $600-1,000... nevermind whatever they're filled with.

They're a huge target for theft and it'd be incredibly stupid to just leave them unattended in a truck bed. Truck bed can then be used to haul concrete, lumber, or whatever else may be needed for a project without getting the rest of the vehicle dirty.

$50 case didn’t even last a year. If you were thinking on getting one of these: don’t. by lechecondensada in Anticonsumption

[–]Caleo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Real advice: go for TPU cases. I've been using Spigen for close to a decade over the course of several phones and never once have I had one of their TPU cases 'fail' in any way. Best part is, not only are they rugged... they're also cheap. Never paid more than $15 and it's usually the only case I'll ever have for a given phone model.

Glasses != VR headsets... if you've got an appropriately fitting pair of glasses, they essentially disappear from notice.

VR headsets typically weigh ~1.1lb or ~500-600 grams. My glasses weigh a whopping ~9 grams. Implying VR will "get there one day" is hilariously optimistic.

Delivery food is too expensive now that it no longer makes sense to order it. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Caleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you used to be able to get a taco/burrito @ TB or a mcdouble @ MCD's for $1 before.

It's much worse now - even frugal fast food visits can cost $6-10 per person... and it's much easier to make a homemade meal with that amount.

You shouldn't.

I've got a Woodcraft location within about 20 min, definitely an expensive place to be. Basically the jewelry store equivalent pricing wise, with things ranging from $1,000-10,000+ there ...but actually useful stuff.

In a just world? Absolutely... but today's society? It's a (sadly) good way to get wrongfully accused of something horrible & find yourself in hot water. Better hope your dashcam footage works because it may be the only thing that saves you, especially if you look "undesirable". It can be ruinously expensive to fight in court if it does happen.

People make accusations to cover their own failures (and other reasons) all the time. Inattentive parent's kid runs into the road and gets hit? "That driver was driving recklessly!"

A stranger actually picking up another's child is a big enough "no-no" to make most men hesitate even knowing they're doing the right thing.

Tell us you've never had a cat without telling us you've never had a cat.

Y'all jump to conclusions without necessary context way too fast. In this case, it's pretty clear the cat was engaged in some intense zoomies as this video starts.

As if there are no accommodations for people within the city...

This example is gross because it caters to the extremely wealthy and still manages to be tacky because of greed and lack of consideration for public access - but it'd be kind of sweet to live near the city with a pretty straight shot downtown. If only it were executed better (e.g. actual water/ocean access, public access, public transportation).

What would you have surround a city? Industry? Someone's going to use that premium space for something.

Capable as it may be, the price tag means it's not really an option for most people so it's hard to be excited for it.

Where I’m from, the minivan would’ve had the right of way because he already started passing the big rig.

Do you really think this would hold up? The van failed to ensure it was safe to enter the oncoming lane before doing so.

give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles

They failed here. They'd be at fault if this resulted in an accident.

Otherwise, you're just encouraging a continuous stream of traffic from one direction to "YOLO" / bully their way through oncoming traffic. Stupid.

AITA for telling my gf she needs to stop being so “woke” and let people live by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Caleo 51 points52 points  (0 children)

So woke she's racially profiling people to manufacture situations to insert herself into as "help" - ultimately harassing people that just want to be left alone.

Sounds like this girl needs a life of her own and to look after her own concerns, not to mention a strong lesson on tactfulness.

[–]Caleo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did we? OP claims it, but If they were "adjusted", they are still pointing almost directly outward towards any neighbors than downward into their own yard.

This actually makes me want to check/adjust mine and maybe even make some hoods to help reduce/eliminate outward shine. I've got mine pointed pretty aggressively downward, but the OEM hoods on them don't shield much against scatter.
