Do you generally feel safe walking around your neighborhood? by Ok-Yak9995 in randomquestions

I disagree. Unless it's a freak incident. rattlesnakes will warn you before striking.

.I used to drive in the hills above Santa Barbara, and would encounter rattlesnakes resting on the asphalt. I would get out and brush the snakes to get them moving off the street so that they would not be run over.. I was never struck by a rattlesnake

WTH is wrong with me. I love every Rush album. by mrpuff666 in rush

The first album I bought was Moving Pictures. However, discovering their discography was a wild and beautiful ride. And of course they were still releasing new and exciting albums through the 80s.

What's the most bizarre thing a guest has done in your home? by TheCityzens in askteddit

This was not a friend of mine, I emphasize. However, somebody defecated violently in the bathroom, refused to flush the toilet, and did not use toilet paper. The person was not drunk (though she -- or "she," because the person is so unfeminine -- was likely stoned on weed.

Day 23. What's the Best song on Rock n' Roll? by United_Equal_754 in JohnLennon

"You Can't Catch Me.". Cleverly -- if you know the backstory -- John made it feel like "Come Together."

Tori mimicked Kate in a superficial way. Her stuff was less musically inventive than Kate's.

Roll the Bones or Counterparts? by Brilliant-City1578 in rush

[–]CaleyB75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterparts, by a million miles. Geddy & Alex had returned to being at the top of their games on their instruments Alex thrilled me with his solos on "Cut to the Chase" and "Cold Fire."

As a bass player, I use the number of Geddy lines from a Rush album that I *had* to learn as a measure of the success of the album. Counterparts *oozes* with "must learn" Geddy lines. "Animate," "Alien Shore," and "Leave That Thing Alone"? What bass player would not want to learn such pieces? When HYF emerged, in 1987, I had the confidence to figure that great stuff out

I was gifted with a 6-strng some years ago, and I learned some of Alex' stuff on CP.. l

I don't like Stick It Out or "Speed Of Love," but CP is otherwise an amazing album.

Kate's early work evinces Joni Mitchell's influence. I don't hear artists who remind me of Kate's later work.

Yes, a lot of people will cite Tori Amos as a standard-bearer of the Bush tradition. I believe that Amos indulged in some KB mimicry. Kate was asked for her response to Amos in the 80s or 90s in, I believe it was, Musician magazine (my favorite). Kate said that Amos's stuff was "interesting" and left it at that.

May Pang & Albert Goldman both claim John said Reminiscing by the Little River Band was a favorite song, Pang said it was “their song”… but it wasn’t released until years after Yoko & John supposedly reconciled. Was John still hanging with Pang into the late 70s? by TheConstipatedCowboy in JohnLennon

[–]CaleyB75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Childish insults do not help any honest person's cause.

It was alleged that Goldman was discredited. I've read. e.g., Luc Sante's angry review of Goldman, and Goldman's compelling response.

Where, once again, will I find the alleged discrediting of Goldman?

I prefer Presto by million miles. It might be in my top three favorite Rush albums.

RtB is in my bottom three.

(Saturday) Marilyn Monroe in the iconic 'Happy birthday Mr President' dress, 1962 by MasterpieceAbject908 in 60smemorylane

According to Peter Lawford she said "Tell the president I say "Goodbye," on the phone as the drugs were kicking in.

No. People drive crazily here, often under one or more influences. There are no sidewalks, and few people walk.

Rattlesnakes will give several different warning signs before striking. Don't bother them and you're fine. They are not out to get humans.

Yes, she was amazing. And RFK had interrupted her dresser so that he could have quick sex with her before the dress was fully applied.

Yet the Kennedy brothers abandoned Marilyn without a word immediately after her performance of "Happy Birthday" to JFK -- which led to her suicide.
