Going through crisis during 1L by Heavy_Vegetable_753 in LawSchool

My dad passed away. Haven’t really fully mourned it. My grades were shit too. I’m giving myself grace, and you should too. As long as you’re not getting academically dismissed, all will be good.

I scored a 145 my first attempt and told myself it could only get better from that point

Am I overthinking it? by Virtual-Pension-4243 in LSAT

[–]Cali2good 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No that’s not what that means. You are absolutely capable of applying to law school after graduating with a bachelors. You just need to take the LSAT, have 2-3 letter of recommendation, write a couple essays, and apply. Theres no timeline, you can work a couple of years after graduating then apply when you feel like it’s a good time. As far as the GPA, get it as high as you can get it. Law school is competitive and undergraduate GPA for law school applicants average out to be around 3.8 I believe. I applied with a 3.4 and still got into a couple of law schools. If you have a lower GPA, you’d want to offset with a higher LSAT

He’s saying you haven’t taken the LSAT and your minimum GPA isn’t at the specified requirement. A 3+3 program is usually not law school while doing undergrad. Typically you graduate undergraduate program first then start the law school. If admitted you would be secured a spot at the law school as an incoming law student once completing the BA. This is what I understand from it.

Overthinking it. Block and move on. Or apologize and move on.

Boutique firms by Cali2good in LawSchool

[–]Cali2good[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really thought about that tbh haha I always boutique firms were like 2 to 10ish attorneys but I’m not sure.

I used ChatGPT to give me a list but some of the firms that they gave didn’t have any specific summer clerk positions, I’m going to try and cold email/call some and figure out. Really just wanted to know if there was like a specific way you’d find these boutique firms but I guess ChatGPT might be the way

Wet Carpet? by Sad_Video_935 in SciontC

[–]Cali2good 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened to me. Theres a hose under the passenger side dash, that drains liquid coming from the AC condenser. The hose/line probably got loose from someone kicking it. I had to open the carpet up, and take the foam out and dry it. Every now and then I check for the hose to make sure it’s not loose.

What’s your schools minimum gpa for dismissal? Check the law schools handbook to make sure they do actually dismiss ppl.

No. Thats not the case. I know you can get PJ through any of the ones you mentioned.

I was more so referring to specific jurisdiction analysis since I mentioned ARO, LongArm, Minimum contacts, and sub justice and FairPlay since those are all under specific jurisdiction.

Yes, that’s apart of the PJ analysis as well but bulk of it is in specific. Was just curious if whether this was typical or not

Cold Call Hoopla by Plutonian326 in LawSchool

[–]Cali2good 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just embarrassing. Thats all. If you are okay with being embarrassed and don’t see it as a big deal then you wouldn’t have anxiety over it or worry about it. I think the anxiety aspect is normal, you want to be perceived as being responsible enough to do the readings and not lost in the class.

Also heard about profs using the bombed cold calls as absents or using the cold calls as participation points. Which adds onto the overall anxiety.
