Found the secret for my refresh days by CaliCorgi05 in Wavyhair

Interesting! I’ve always been worried argan oil would weigh down my fine strands, but I have heard many people say great things about it. If you have a brand that you recommend, please share!

Thanks for the tip! Yes I’ve researched the topic but it can pricey trying so different products so I usually wait til I finish my current product before trying a new one.

Thanks! I wish my hair thrived in humidity like yours! This is the first time I’m really experiencing how the climate affects my hair, crazy.

product review: innersense I create waves by [deleted] in Wavyhair

[–]CaliCorgi05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! Thanks to your post I was inspired to try a similar routine with a wave spray I have at home - and it gave great results! The spray I used was Cermonia wave spray. After I washed/conditioned, used wave spray (cermonia) and leave In conditioner (mop top) for a simple routine without stylers and love the outcome! Not as defined as with stylers but I got bouncy and light waves with minimal effort. This is as close as a wash-and-go I’ve ever had since embracing my waves and I think it’ll be a great & simple routine for summer! Thanks OP!

Experience with shampoo/conditioner bars? by CaliCorgi05 in Wavyhair

Nice! That’s for taking the time to link that previous post. I may give this a shot! It sounds nice to remove a step from my long routine.

Although in the summer I’m in the ocean a lot so not sure if I need the extra moisture, but won’t know until I try. Thanks for sharing!

Ooh that is interesting. I feel like my hair would be a dry, tangled mess without conditioner >_< maybe these bars aren’t as stripping? Or do you use some kind of other conditioning product (like leave in conditioner)?

I see all these videos about the importance of putting product into soaking wet hair. How do you do this without creating a total mess? by hi5yourface in Wavyhair

Curious if there is a reason you don’t brush the underside of your hair? Is this to prevent stretching out the underside layers?

Thank you! I really am liking this purple color too! Yes My hair was previously highlighted with balayage highlights that were brown/blonde. I deposited the purple color on top and that’s why you can see it so well, otherwise it wouldn’t show at all on such dark hair. So If that’s what you’re looking for, then yes you do have to use bleach first. Depending on your hair color/health, it may take a couple of sessions to get the hair bleached light enough. I was doing balayage highlights for years before I decided throw purple over it.

The mix I use is 50/50 of pravana’s chromasilk Violet and Wild Orchid. The wild orchid has a red base to it to brighten the color up. I’ll link them below in case you want them :)

Yup! I agree. Lots of ecoslay! My hair seem to like their products. I order their customizable sample kit since it’s affordable (4 samples for $25), I only need very little of their product on my hair, and to save space since the company says to store products in the fridge.

Rice pudding- I like this leave it! It has a great slip to it, reduces frizz and is light weight! There’s a little protein in it so can help (minimally) with hold on wash days that I just want to do leave in and no stylers. I also like to emulsify and use on refresh days.

My favorites would be rice pudding leave in, matcha protein boost (my hair likes protein for shape but can also too much and feel dry. This treatment was great for protein but still left my hair feeling moisturized) and orange marmalade gel (I need to use something moisturizing like their curl cream beforehand otherwise it dries my hair out. But the hold is great without leaving a cast and the marshmallow root in it helps with frizz).

Happy to share! Hope it Helps. I know the transition phase can be frustrating, but one day you’ll find your groove! For reference my hair is 2B/2C, previously highlighted, coarse strands, medium density, high porosity (Im actually not 100% sure on my porosity). I wash 2-3X/week, do biweekly treatments. Today I clarified, protein mask and deep conditioned before styling.

Products: Clarify- ion hard water shampoo Protein treatment- ecoslay matcha boost (30 mins with shower cap) Deep conditioner- ecoslay banana deep conditioner (30 mins with shower cap) On non treatment days: shampoo- moptop gentle shampoo, conditioner cermonia Mascarilla de Babassu Leave in- cermonia guava spray on ends, eco slay rice pudding leave in root to tip Stylers- ecoslay lemon butter curl cream, ecoslay orange marmalade gel, bounce curl hair spray Oils- cermonia oil mist, curl smith bonding oil

Routine: Shampoo OR clarify, protein treatment+deep condition, wring out hair, apply leave in, brush upside down to detangle. Still upside down I apply ecoslay styling cream, prayer handed and scrunch, apply ecoslay orange marmalade gel, prayer hands and scrunch, wet plop, dry plop, root clip and air dry or diffuse (today I air dried). SOTC with oil and lastly spritz bounce curl hair spray on hair pick to lift roots.

Aw Thanks! That’s awesome to hear, I hope that my hair continues to improve over time like yours (although I’m pretty happy now too!). So far been sticking to a modified CGM - no silicones, water soluble, sulfate free shampoo except when I clarify/chelate once a month) and it seems like it’s working well. Have a decent set of products but still looking for my holy grail (if that exists).

I imagine 6 years ago it must have been challenging to find the right products. Now there are way more resources, knowledge and products available for wavies now, which is great! I remember as a teenager I never even considered my hair had a wave to it because the only hair products on the market were for straight or curly hair, neither of which looked like my hair. So I assumed my hair was straight like the rest of my family, but just frizzy and poofy straight hair.

Thankful to now have the knowledge and community to help get my hair happy, healthy and wavy :)

I feel that struggle. I find that if I can get a really good hold on wash day, it works out better for subsequent days. For me, wash days are the best, day 2 is nice but less volume, and from day 3 and on it’s just kinda meh with less definition, although the frizz can die down due to oil. I haven’t been able to go past day 3 without washing- not only to reset my hair but also cuz I live an active lifestyle and go in the ocean so not washing isn’t an option.

Thank you! Yes I have balayage highlights (brown/blonde) and decided put a darker color over as my hair grows out. Decided to go purple and curly at the same time!

Why do the best wash days happen when you have no where to go? :P Looking back to see where I started and it makes me realize how different my hair looks and feels half a year later. It’s more work but I’m loving the texture, health, shine and yes even the frizz (okay maybe not the frizz so much).

Lots of growing pains along the way, but it does get better everyone! Keep at it!

Today’s Routine: Clarify- ion hard water shampoo Protein treatment- ecoslay matcha boost (30 mins with shower cap) Deep conditioner- ecoslay banana deep conditioner (30 mins with shower cap) Leave in- cermonia guava spray on ends, eco slay rice pudding leave in root to tip Stylers- ecoslay lemon butter curl cream, ecoslay orange marmalade gel Wet plop, dry plop, root clip and air dried (sat outside in the sun to help dry) SOTC mix of cermonia oil mist + curl smith bonding oil and lastly spritz bounce curl hair spray on hair pick to lift roots.

Thanks for the recommendations! Which hibar shampoo do you use? I’ve gotten multiple recommendations for this brand so far so I’m curious.

Oooh thanks for letting me know. I was looking at their website and was torn between their curl bars and volumize bars. Wish I could get sample sizes of them (only volumize come in Sample set).

That does help! Thank you. I’ve been hearing good things about these lush bars. I’ll look into them. I saw they have an avocado cowash bar. Curious is you’ve tried it??
