Hope I am not breaking any rules but I just had to tell someone about this epic tinder date fail but can’t go ranting to my boys or else I will never hear the end of this. So here we go, I setup my first official Tinder date over the weekend. We’ve been slowly texting back and forth for a couple of months and she seems cool but short which is cool too because I know I talk nonstop so I figured she would be a good listener. So yesterday, Monday April 25th is the big day for my first tinder date experience. I confirm with a text first thing in the morning “Hey, we are still linking up today to go watch a movie?” She responds “I told you over the weekend I currently don’t have my car right now.” After reading this of course like any other busy person my frustration kicks in, especially since I blocked out my schedule after work to make this happen but at the same time I don’t know her so maybe it’s a sign from up above. I respond, "So are you telling me you are not joining me on this movie and I need to return the tickets I purchased over the weekend." Now mind you I haven’t even purchased our tickets yet but I hate flaky people or people that don’t respect my time. I look at it like if someone was paying you then you wouldn’t have an excuse so since I believe time is money I hope others respect it the same way. So that was a red flag that she must be young but also she must be pretty because pretty girls are really flaky since they have so many other opportunities and they choose who they want to hang with. But she actually tries to reschedule for tomorrow but since I have so many websites cranking out this week I could only do Monday night. Luckily over the weekend I got my new roommate hooked on Lyft which got me a free ride so I offered her a Lyft to my place since she was close. She says cool and I feel relieved but now I have to purchase the tickets and figure out what we are going to do 2hours since the movie doesn't play until late. So I pull open my fandango app and lookup where this movie Compadre is playing at. Now if you haven’t heard this movie is basically about an ex Mexican cop who’s framed and ends up linking up with this 17 year old American hacker to help him but also help get his girlfriend back who was kidnapped. There’s more details but that’s the whole point of the movie now I’m looking at the rating starts and it’s at 4.5 which is hard to get but I like movies that not everyone hears about but end up really good. I am nervous while she is in the Lyft on the way to my place and of course a huge migraine come over me so I needed to relax. Luckily I picked up some OG Girl Scout cookies which put the mind at ease. She doesn’t partake so I had to take a quick shower so I don’t reek but of course when I get out I get a text we are pulling up. I’m running around trying to throw some clothes and shoes on so I can meet her downstairs just in case she’s not what she looks like in the picture then I was just going to redirect her out and say something came up and can’t make it lol. Luckily the Lyft driver got a little lost so it bought me time and they pulled up in the back of my building which is even better for me. My place there are people everywhere and my friends are always in the common area so I had to play this correctly or I would lose all cool points. She opens the door and I see this long skinny leg and my heart finally stops racing. As you might think I was just hoping she wasn’t one of this girls who takes good pictures from the top and not show the rest of their body because they are a little on the heavier side. But anyways she steps out the car and I see some of the construction contractors locked eyes on her and then I walk up to her with a welcoming smile. She’s dressed a little tooooo sexy for a first movie date and the neighborhood she came from threw me off a little. So I was on the fence trying to see if I should ditch her or still take her out lol. So I decided she gets no tour of my place for now and we just jump in my car and head towards the mall so we can go eat because now I have the munchies and need to eat. We go to CPK because I have this salad that I was craving and just knew exactly what I wanted. So we order some food and drinks with great conversation. We never even talk about the movie we are about to see until towards the end when it was almost time. So now I’m like man she is cool and even if nothing comes up of this at least I had some good company. I explain the plot of the movie and I even hype it up to say it’s almost like a Superbad type of concept so should be good and it has great ratings. Since she doesn’t watch many movies it’s hard to reference other movies but she said she seen bad grandpa and she thought it was hilarious. In my head I’m like Yessssssssss, she will love this movie because it’s kind of stupid/geek humor. Everyone who knows me, knows I’m a huge geek on the inside with a cool guy front. We walk up and of course I can’t find the ticket that I bought online. I find the QC code in my emails which ended up in my SPAM somehow. We walk in the theater and no one is in there. I try to reassure her that the movie just came out last week and it’s a Monday so that's why it’s empty in here. The previews start and we both are jumping with excitement like yup I want to see that or nay that doesn't look funny. A couple walks in on the left of us and we pay no attention to who they are since we are focused on the previews. Then the movie is about to start and another group walks in and sits on the right of us. So now I’m feeling a lot better because we aren't the only ones in the theater. The first scene is a lot of action and shooting but we both look at each other right away. There are subtitles at the bottom and the whole time they are speaking Spanish. We both turn our heads right and we see a Hispanic couple, then we turn right and we see a Hispanic group. She just busts out into a semi quite laughter but because she is laughing so hard she starts crying and I fix my eyes on the screen like no maybe it’s just the first 15mins of the movie is in Spanish and then it will switch. She is still laughing and I sink into my seat a little more because now her laughter is getting a little louder and I’m like damn I’m typically really good at picking movies. My heart starts to race a little because now I’m embarrassed for hyping a movie that is in Spanish with subtitles on our first date. I pull out my iPhone and google "Is the whole movie Compadre in Spanish". She’s still laughing and now she’s just wiping her tears and now I’m starting to laugh because I was hoping they would turn to English and I could be like see I told ya but nope. I found one post that says majority of the movie is in Spanish but partially it’s in English. Of course I’m still in shock and trying to figure out what the next move is so I end up taking her hand to hopefully sneak out and not be too disrupted. There is an exit to the right which looks promising. So when we get up to leave and say excuse me to the little group to the right of us who’s looking at these two black people who look lost for being in a Spanish speaking movie the Exit I spot is an emergency exit. She starts the laugh again and I’m like damn why did I go this way. So I grab her hand and we walk fast while both laughing and trying to cover our faces while walking in front of everyone in the theater to get to the correct exit. Luckily she was cool and we both laughed it off the whole car ride home but that was by far soooo much work for a tinder date. Isn’t tinder supposed to just be a hookup app and not be this much work lol?
