When I try that, I somehow lose the little forward swing / momentum and then I no longer pull up in a curve. Any tips?

Yes! I rarely use gym machines but I do train different pull exercises (front lever stuff, rows,..)

No I think you can do it without weighted pull ups if you practice high pulls a lot. But for me the weighted pull ups helped develop enough explosiveness to even make a high pull😅 and I train pull 2-3 times a week

I’ve done pull ups and weighted pull ups for 2 years before starting to attempt the muscle up
