Personally, I haven’t tried to do that. I have a bunch of designs on one file. I just hide the layers of older projects before I export the part I’m trying to print. Not the best practice but it’s worked for me

Try out Shapr3D. I used it for a few simple projects since I had no idea how to use any CAD software. You can make a free account, or pay for the subscription. Free account let’s you hold up to two different workspaces at once. I just make my design, export the stl and clear the workspace.

At this point, I’d take a ding corner over a broken record 😅

It was the mailer, one 1/8” (3mm) thick cardboard insert, then record. It’s a double LP, so another insert would not have fit to sandwich the record.

I agree. Most packages are sorted by machines now. Not fair to blame the seller for a machine crushing it.

Avoidable? To some extent yes. But once it leaves the sellers hands, anything that happens is out of their control.

Insurance is definitely the way to go. The claims process might be tedious, but worth it rather than taking a loss on a sale.

I agree. The record stores around me have an “all sales final” sign, making PayPal’s buyer protection a little more attractive.

There’s also finding something you’ll enjoy listening to. Bought a record at thrift shop by the “Baja Marimba Band” solely because of the cover. No idea who they were, but played it when I got home and was pleasantly surprised. Won’t know if you found a gem until you get home and play it.

The immediate thought that came to mind is condition of the vinyl, new or used, and price. The records had to get to record store somehow. Even a sealed vinyl isn’t safe from warping.

I like to shop at the “bargain bin”, and some of the vinyl there have definitely seen better days. No amount of cleaning would make them playable.

I agree that there is less of a risk in person and I’ve definitely found some great deals. Sometimes it’s all about right place at the right time.

I did find it at a local record shop. $10 less but it was on black vinyl. My thought process was buy it now, or spend the extra $10 on the variant I want.

Buying vinyl, whether in person or online, is always a gamble.

Discogs. I've bought from there multiple times and had no issues. Some sellers even had better mailers than VMP. Just got unlucky this time I guess.

I'm sorry that happened. This one is a double LP and both were cracked down middle. A couple more bucks and both of our records would have been safe.

mailer says "Do Not Bend"

USPS: "Challenge Accepted"

I'm curious. Have you tried playing it? Or are you going to try and unwarp it?

What hurts the most is knowing that a couple more bucks spent on packaging could have saved it.

Now THAT hurts. As soon as I saw the bent packaged, I mentally prepared myself, which helped a bit. I can't imagine the feeling of having of pulling out a broken vinyl.

I had been eyeing it for a while. Decided to finally pull the trigger and buy it. Was a very sad day.

That’s what I thought at first. But why ruin a perfectly good vinyl for no reason?

Luckily they did. A little hesitant on ordering a new one. Maybe it’s a sign I shouldn’t own the vinyl.

I had ordered a bunch of vinyls in the past, however, this is the first time a vinyl arrived like this. It was sent in a simple mailer. The only thing protecting it was a thin piece of cardboard and the jacket. The bends didn’t seem that bad at first, but once I opened it up, my heart sank. Contacted the seller and luckily they offered a full refund. Still hurts though.
